Marginal improvement on Grocery prices

Yeah, I'm just cooking for me. The one child who is still at home is tube fed on special formula.

I'm slowly but surely learning to replace meat with eggs. I've been exploring all types of recipes. Some days I'll have four boiled eggs, a couple cups of broccoli blanched, and black coffee. Got to try to get some weight off the knees.

I'm on a carb restricted diet because of high cholesterol so eggs figure prominently.

How about making gravy?
Everything in it's place.....That's what you do after frying up some sausage paddies for breakfast. ;)

In fact the best thing ever invented for that is white peppered gravy mix. No waste and the right consistency. Just mix it up and pour it over the grease and stir over medium heat till it thickens.....Perfect every time!

BTW....Never fry eggs in the grease you are going to make gravy with.

Actually ,I like to make Bacon Gravy. Add some milk ,flour , pepper , pasley ,onion powder , and let it thicken. Goes well over potatos , Grits ,or Bisquits.

I never cared for grits.

Those are tamed grits.....Convict grits was a big pan (usually a 5# bag of grits) with 2# of .gov butter, and the grease from whatever pork they were having for breakfast.....They slopped them down.

Damn, I did not know you are female...
I'm not. I'm a single dad. I mention single moms because people always seem surprised to find a single male parent and act as if I'm doing something unusual.

I'm a goofy lookin' dude, but I'd be a fugly woman.

Well to be fair.... I kind of agree with him.
There's probably something different being done with the feed and the keeping. I'm used to a very strong flavor in the pork ribs That seems to be missing in today's product. Not sure how to explain it.... Very porky I guess....Lol.

I am determined to go down south and try out some of the wild boar product that is available down there. I'm told that it's a very intense pork flavor like pork on steroids.

Makes me curious.

I think it’s a universal old-person thing.

I remember reading a book written in the early 1900s, and an old lady in the book complained about strawberries not having any flavor like when she was a girl.

It’s something old people have said since long before hormones and genetic engineering and whatnot

WTF has happened to pork, it's almost flavorless now.

My butcher used to have great pork but damn, even it's tasteless now.
/----/ Pork has always been tasteless to me. It's the seasonings and BBQ sauce that give it flavor.

Notably chicken and Pork.

Eggs.....well there's something else gong on with that.
I buy from a wholesaler 15 dozen at a time...works out to about 3 bucks and change per dz.

Bulk Cheese has come down a little

Bread has eased off a bit....but you have to look for the off Brands

VEGGIES have held steady at some high prices...even the Mexican Imports

Still too high for the average working family of four with Median Income in the sixties.

Only 2 in 10 Americans are “extremely” or “very” confident that Trump will be able to make progress on lowering the cost of groceries, housing or health care this year, according to a survey

while about 2 in 10 are “moderately” confident.

Faith in Trump’s ability to create jobs is a little higher — about 3 in 10 are extremely or very confident the Republican will make progress on this in 2025 — but the poll indicates that despite his sweeping promises about lowering prices, a substantial chunk of his own supporters don’t have high confidence in his ability to quickly alleviate the economic pressures that continue to frustrate many households.

Those tempered expectations haven’t dampened Republicans’ hopes for Trump’s second presidential term, though. About 8 in 10 Republicans say Trump will be a “great” or “good” president in his second term, according to the poll.

So even though they don't have confidence he will do what he said he would do, they still think he will be great?

So Biden was great then.

Oh look, a far-left AP article.....You are not fooling anyone OP.....We can look-up stuff too.

Trump's campaign promise about food costs and his failure to lower egg prices can help Democrats regain voters’ in the 2026 midterm elections.

The president is failing to keep his “No. 1 promise.”

Remember the No. 1 promise that Trump made, which he was going to do something about high grocery prices, specifically eggs.

Trump said, “We have to get them down.” A month later, “We will cut your taxes and inflation” and “slash your prices.”

However, he reneged after winning the election, saying, “It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up.”

I don't think the cost of living has moved much, if at all, but they will do once the likes of energy prices start falling.

Our excuses are better, he actually getting stuff done that is better for America than a mere 10 cents off for a can of beans.
Most important issues

1. Inflation/Prices 24% said this is most important
2. Immigration. 13%, all Trump MAGA racists, said immigration is most important. Trump's working on this one for sure.

3. Jobs and Economy

So far Trump is 1 for 3
