Manchin fires back after Bernie Sanders pens op-ed in West Virginia paper

Manchin snapped back: “This isn’t the first time an out-of-stater has tried to tell West Virginians what is best for them despite having no relationship to our state.”

“Congress should proceed with caution on any additional spending and I will not vote for a reckless expansion of government programs. No op-ed from a self-declared Independent socialist is going to change that,” Manchin said in a statement on Friday evening shortly after the op-ed published.
I loved that. He just laid right into Sanders.

What Sanders and these other far left Democrats don't understand is unlike most of them Manchin is not in a safe solid blue state he is a Democrat in a very red state that Trump got 68% of the vote in in the 2020 election. Right now the Democrats have a Democratic Senator from the state who votes with the party best guess 75 to 80 percent of the time he goes along with the Sanders/AOC agenda he in all likelihood gets voted out in the next election and you have a Republican in that seat who in all probablity never votes with the Democrats on anything.

Coal doesn't power the furnaces, it an ingredient. That's a miniscule amount of the coal used.today.

And coal.is screwing over Appalachia. Look uo how many cases of black lung they're dealing with.

Who cares if people die. Doesn't stop people from using drugs.

There was a time we had people in the Democratic party that were left, center and right.
That was true of the Republican Party as well.

Both parties have since become polarized in opposite directions.

Bro, coal mining has become more advanced and cleaner than you think. I get you're everything anti-Trump and natural energy. But you clearly are stuck in the past, man.
Is that what faux niwz tells you?

Whoever it was isn't telling you the truth.

if Bernie Sanders was in Germany, he would be running on the conservative party ticket, the Christian Democrats

His major proposals — universal health care, free higher education — in Germany, that’s the right-wing party. The United States has gone so far to the right that even policies that are normal in most of the rest of the world are considered radical.

Take West Virginia, where Manchin is working very hard to harm the people as much as he can in service to his corporate masters. But the population of West Virginia is beginning to see the light.

It’s a coal state. The United Mine Workers of America recently agreed to a transition program, in which there would be a transition from a coal-based economy for West Virginia — which has to disappear, otherwise we won’t be around — to a renewable energy economy. They have the capacity to do it. The transition proposal took into account the needs of the working people who will be affected by loss of jobs. New kinds of jobs, training, and better jobs are all part of the transition plan.

Solyndra-2? Your Green New Deal pipe-dream looks good on paper, but it never works, just like socialism never works. WV knows the score, more migrants doesn't help them do they? Inflation doesn't help them does it? The stupid shit the democrats are selling, like CRT, and their "war on energy" are why WV will never go blue, and Manchin knows that.

We have racial disparities for kids. We have racial disparities for women of childbearing age and postpartum. We have racial disparities for people over 65. We have racial disparities for adults on Medicaid...Nobody’s going to win in a ‘who has more racial disparities?’ contest. On every front, if we don’t get something in this bill, it means we’re leaving some segment of the population behind, and that’s a frightening prospect.

The "nanny state" never works either. IQ tests are racist. Math is racist. Laws against stealing are racist. Laws against dealing drugs are racist. You pushing for reparations? Reparations aren't racist are they? Like voter ID laws aren't racist. CRT is or isn't racist? I'm done even thinking about racism, my answer is always NO.

Joe Manchin is a crook. He is a bought and paid for shill for big coal companies. There is nothing wrong increasing the amount of energy we get from renewable sources. What he calls reckless expansion is helping women with rising childcare costs and child costs. Manchin apparently hates st ay at home mothers. Many West Virginians including conservatives support large parts of the Biden plan.

Of course progressives are making an argument for financial sense. The argument is tax increases on corporations and the wealthy. And for some reason in this country, we are unable to move off of the basic view that wealth "trickles down" and "a rising tide lifts all boats" when we've seen that isn't even remotely the case over the last four decades. We have a portion of the political establishment that is loathe to raise taxes under any circumstances except on the group of people that can shoulder the main portion of the bill for their expensive defense budgets. All while cutting programs aimed at the most vulnerable members of our society.

Progressives want to do the opposite. Increase the social safety net...and pay for it with tax increases..on the people and entities that are already being WAY under taxed.

The thing is that these are not massive tax increases. The top rate for individuals would be 39.6% not 70%. Corporate taxes would go up to 26% which is still a large cut from the 35%. We also need to get rid of special tax breaks. The rate on real estate trusts was dropped as well. I don't see any reason why real estate trusts should be taxed at a lower rate.

Does your nose grow when you lie like that?

.

Of course you are the liar. The Republican tax cuts were not paid for and nearly half of the bill is tax credits for childcare and children. I thought Republicans loved children or so they say when the issue is abortion.

The Republican tax cuts were not paid for. Nearly half of it is not spending. It is a higher child tax credit and childcare tax credit.

I never said it was paid for. What you did is a sign of the cult mentality. If I say it needs paid for you see that as me defending Trump.

That's one of the last things I would do.
