Man. Where evolution went tragically wrong.

You folks can live your lives without purpose if you wish. I have things to do.

I have a purpose. Be happy. Safe. Have fun. Well fed. Healthy.

Humanity has a purpose too. But they might say "keep the human race alive as long as possible". Like, this planet isn't going to be habitable forever so maybe we need to send people out into the universe to find new planets. That goal serves humanities purpose. To continue to live for as long as possible.

The more I think about it, my purpose is just the same as humanities. Only I have no say in if we continue on as a species. That would be politicians and scientists. Humanity should have a weapon that can take out an asteroid. This is not a concern of mine.

And the planet will be fine when humans are all gone. When that day comes, what was our purpose again? If there were martians at one time, what was their purpose? Probably the same as mine. Food, comfort, happiness, safety, survival, etc

If no one made a profit off the land we would be no better off than the apes

Is that the idea?
The idea is that we can't sustain our agricultural practices as they degrade the land. We rob the natural fertility of the soil and replace it with chemicals. Animals enrich the land even as they get their nutrition from it. We rob the land of the organic waste needed to sustain natural fertility.

We spend the principle instead of the earned interest from the land. A recipe for bankruptcy.

It takes longer than decades for a desert to turn back into lush land full of greenery. Elephants can cause desertification by overgrazing.

So this is another swing and a miss. You're scrambling a bit.
Tell that to the Romans.

No doubt, many species have gone extinct because they destroyed their own environments.

Ironic, eh? Those species were TOO successful for their own good.

According to most Bible scholars those rules no longer apply.

Christ said they do ... your scholars would be false prophets to say otherwise ... "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." ...

I don't care if you believe in the science or not ... you refuse to study it ... but could you please read the Bible before you listen to TV Evangelicals ...

We sit in the seat of the Merciful ... and mourn God's punishment on the wicked ... the adulterer will surely die, just not by our hands ... we are commanded to forgive those who trespass against us ... since we ourselves are in great need of forgiveness ... you seemed to have missed the part where Moses was refused entry into the Land of Milk and Honey ...

"Blessed are the peacemakers" is another one you missed ...

I remember hearing once that man screwed up when we started working for other people. Before that we only worked for ourselves. Built your home, cut your fire wood, hunted, dug a well, farmed, all for yourself. If you needed to hunt or fish you did. If the cellar and smoker are full, don't.

Anyone who stopped working for themselves and instead went to work for someone who was rich enough to hire them, now has to work harder for their boss than they would if they just had to work for themselves. Because now we have to work hard enough to make it worth it for ourselves and the boss.

Is there a point?

Does someone need to show you the crucial role humans play in ecosystems? We can start with insects. Insects that rely on urban environments or agriculture to flourish and which provide a vital food source to other animals.

Did I say I believed those scholars.

Jesus said he came to "fulfill" the Law.
On the cross he declared "It is finished".

What a great point! Thanks.

Try 16-18 hours a day running your own farm for plants and livestock.

Then get back to me.

All I need to read is the title. On balance the elephants is a net asset to land. Moreso if man wasn't present to upset the natural balance. However, in a prolonged damaging weather event all bets are off and everything suffers. And it seems that only man can influence the weather.

Some animals that can harm the environment include:
  • Elephants: Can break branches, uproot bushes, and push down trees

  • Locusts: Swarms of locusts can cover hundreds of square miles and consist of billions of locusts

  • Common carp: Known for altering their environment

  • Bark beetles: Can destroy entire stands of forest

  • Feral swine: Consume large amounts of vegetation, destroy plants with their rooting, soil compaction, and wallowing behaviors

  • Invasive species: These species are not native to a new environment and can cause ecological or economic harm. Examples include cats, rats, mongoose, stoats, red foxes, green crab, killer algae, sea walnut, lionfish, and Pacific oysters
These critters can change the environment but do no lasting harm.

According to evolution theory a changing environment forces changes in organisms, changes that will provide a better chance of surviving those changes. Man, under evolutionary pressure changed from an organism well suited to survive in harmony with the environment to one that must destroy his environment in order to survive.
This is rather condemning of the gods.

They poofed humanity into existence and never understood the consequences of their poofing.

That tends to dismantle the "all knowing" attribute humans put on their gawds.

Man's involvement in the environment always produces net negative effects.

Life on earth wasn't created to be everlasting, just temporary for God's ultimate purpose. Add that to the mix.
