Better sanitation where these viruses arise is a better first step ... both coronaviruses and influenzas ... where humans and livestock live together is where the "zoonosis" takes place ... where the virus bridges the gap between fowl and humans ...

Use Google Earth to scan across the agricultural areas of the Eastern Chinese Plain ... see how tightly the rural peasants live ... the livestock lives on the ground floor while extended families live above ... this is where we look for next year's flu virus ...

The question was "what is the logic and the purpose of the emergence of SARS" ... one side is "God's will be done on Earth", the other random chance ... and I like playing at dice ...

I don’t take it beyond genetic mutations. But are they random or even random enough? Or are genetic mutations a natural part of life because that’s how I see it. As near as I can tell life evolves to meet needs. That if a need exists within nature, nature will find a way to fill that void. Genetic mutations seem to be a part of that process. So is it directed? I don’t think so. I think it is an artifact of everything being interconnected. I think it occurs naturally. God seems to be a master craftsman.
