Man sentenced to 5 years in prison for extorting Gaetz family

If I recall correctly, many on this site vilified Gaetz based on what this convicted extortionist pulled.

Those who blasted Gaetz must be anxious to set the record straight.

This is an interesting development.

Glad to see justice served.

From your link.....................which says who the guy was that was convicted...............

Northern District of Florida Judge Casey Rodgers sentenced Stephen Alford to 63 months in federal prison and three years of probation to be served after his release. Alford pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud in November 2021 in accordance with the scheme, although his lawyers and federal prosecutors argued over sentencing guidelines for several months, the Northwest Florida Daily News reported. Alford has served time in prison twice before as part of extortion schemes.

From the OP's link, when this was first posted...................

A confession letter written by Joel Greenberg in the final months of the Trump presidency claims that he and close associate Rep. Matt Gaetz paid for sex with multiple women—as well as a girl who was 17 at the time.

“On more than one occasion, this individual was involved in sexual activities with several of the other girls, the congressman from Florida’s 1st Congressional District and myself,” Greenberg wrote in reference to the 17-year-old.

“From time to time, gas money or gifts, rent or partial tuition payments were made to several of these girls, including the individual who was not yet 18. I did see the acts occur firsthand and Venmo transactions, Cash App or other payments were made to these girls on behalf of the Congressman.”

The letter, which The Daily Beast recently obtained, was written after Greenberg—who was under federal indictment—asked Roger Stone to help him secure a pardon from then-President Donald Trump.

A series of private messages starting in late 2020—also recently obtained by The Daily Beast—shows a number of exchanges between Greenberg and Stone conducted over the encrypted-messaging app Signal, with communications set to disappear. However, Greenberg appears to have taken screenshots of a number of their conversations.

The guy that was sentenced for wire fraud against Gaetz was named Alford. The guy in the OP's story talking about Gaetz is named Greenberg. Sorry, but those aren't the same people. Do you have a link as to whether or not Greenberg (the original guy who brought the accusations) has ever been sentenced, or even brought up on charges? Sorry, but someone else being convicted isn't the same as the person originally being convicted. Sounds like you're pulling crap outta your ass, hoping to be right, when in reality, you're not.

Yeah, I know, it sucks when people actually read the links, don't it?

If Greenberg is convicted, THEN you can say Gaetz is exonerated. Alford isn't the one that exonerates Gaetz.

Amazing how you managed to get the whole thing wrong. :cuckoo:

Greenberg was indicted for sex trafficking. Alford was trying to extort Gaetz and just got convicted for extortion, because Greenberg falsely named Gaetz in a letter. So what we have are two convicted criminals one of which as a sex trafficker who thought it was smart to name Gaetz as a co conspirator, of which he Has now been cleared And will not be charged.

Career prosecutors recommend no charges for Gaetz in sex-trafficking probe

Career prosecutors have recommended against charging Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) in a long-running sex-trafficking investigation — telling Justice Department superiors that a conviction is unlikely in part because of credibility questions with the two central witnesses, according to people familiar with the matter.
