New York has many more poor people than it does rich people. It was only a matter of time before somebody stepped into the Robin Hood boots of Howard Pyle's adventure novel. In the novel the redistribution works out just fine! No one needed to answer any questions about economics just lots of feel good passing out of gold coins to starving Paupers. Unfortunately real life isn't quite that neat and tidy. But the story sells every time!

The Democrats haven't seen anything like this since Obama hit the scene. I don't particularly agree with his collectivist ideas but I'm going to tell you right now this guy knows how to enumerate his positions. It's stunning to see a Democrat ( although I don't really believe he is one) in this current field of orange man bad parrots actually embrace a detailed policy and explain how it's actually going to work! I don't care who you are you have to appreciate that approach. He's so far ahead of the field right now who are all completely paralyzed with TDS that they have absolutely no connection anymore with the kitchen table issues of their constituencies. In fact I'm doing Mamdani an Injustice by comparing him to Obama because while Obama had the charisma he didn't have one half of the brains that this guy has.

But I digress....

Now you can throw all the standard arguments at this angle up to an including the top 10% pay 70% of the taxes and you're still not going to make any headway. The New York real estate map is about as corrupt a construct as this nation has ever seen codified by state law. That's why Trump's prosecution based on real estate was a complete and total joke. Lol .... There are a lot of liberals living in those New York City brownstones.... Let's see them put their money where their mouth is now that their candidate is aiming straight at their wallets!

Oh absolutely he's talking out of his ass as far as the economy is concerned. I mean I agree with him about the wealth inequality and how the elite of New York City and New York state basically suck the life out of the people beneath them.... But he has to ask himself the question: How did this evolve into the situation? It's like with a neck tumor.... you can't just rip it out without killing the person.... It's a lot more involved than that.

Similarly in New York... the complex construct of caste and carrion simply cannot be whitewashed back into a more just system without tearing down many of the institutions that represent the very heartbeat of the city and the state.

What I'm trying to say is that as he begins to try to make these heroic corrections the place will burn down before he can fix it.

The people who think they are poor now will be 10 times more poor, 10 times more starved and 10 times more pissed.

This is something I actually agree with him on and it's a point I made myself years ago. Property tax rates shouldn't be capped. Everybody should be paying property tax on the fair market value of their home. Capping rates has distorted the market.

When the people vote for socialism, they should get it, good and hard.
