China, like Bangladesh, has a very large amount of farmland that will be inundated as the sea rises. Also, they have a huge population that needs more power. So, since renewables are the least costly form of electricity generation, they are installing it faster than any other nation. In fact, faster than all the other nations put together;

  • China's solar installations soared to a new monthly record in May, as developers raced to complete projects ahead of upcoming regulations that could significantly reduce renewable energy prices.
  • According to data from the National Energy Administration, the country added 93 gigawatts of solar capacity last month—four times the amount installed in May 2024, Bloomberg reported.
  • This surpasses the previous monthly record of 71 gigawatts, set in December.
  • Remarkably, China installed more solar power in May alone than any other country did throughout all of 2024, according to BloombergNEF.
  • Relevant stocks in focus: Nextracker (NXT), Sunrun (RUN), SolarEdge Technologies (SEDG), FTC Solar (FTCI), Enphase Energy (ENPH), First Solar (NASDAQ:FSLR), Sunnova (NOVA), Maxeon Solar Technologies (MAXN).

I had not noticed, but it appears correct.

Now contrast it with growth in other power producing sources, you will find the percentages haven't changed much.

China’s construction of new coal-power plants ‘reached 10-year high’ in 2024

Excerpt:

The country began building 94.5 gigawatts (GW) of new coal-power capacity and resumed 3.3GW of suspended projects in 2024, the highest level of construction in the past 10 years, according to the two thinktanks.

So, you are saying, China follows a diversified broad-based approach to energy production. Sounds intelligent. I understand, the Trump administration is cutting support for solar and renewables. Gee, I wonder which policy works best?

China is doing it because it helps their industries to run better and to keep the ecoloonies off their backs not because they think it is the best way to power the nation.

Trump isn't outlawing anything he is shutting off mandates and subsidies to them, a wise idea.

I favor a diversified approach of fossil fuels (with the exception of coal), renewables, such as hydroelectric, solar and wind, as well as nuclear for power generation, such as exhibited by the Tennessee Valley Authority, before Trump ever came down the stairs. If some subsidies are needed to kick start newer sources or facilities, so be it. Many Red states are leaders in solar and wind power generation.

China CO2 = (USA *2) + India

Yeah they're realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyy concerned about their Carbon footprint

It doesn't do well without government money to prop them up.....

To compare countries on carbon footprint go by per capita.

The average in the world is 4 metric tons. It's 8.89 to 10.1 in China, 12.7 in the UK, and 16 in the USA. Total tonnage is higher in China because of the number of people.

Ad Fontes Media rates Zero Hedge in the Strong Right category of bias and as Unreliable, Problematic in terms of reliability.

That’s nonsense

If CO2 is an existential threat why is China building a massive military, high speed rails, space program, empty cities and on and on

The per capita argument reeks of CCP propaganda and apologies

The thousands of acres west of me of solar fields which have taken over previously green farm fields is an eyesore and abomination.
A now complete dead zone with wildlife forced into ever smaller areas.
A good portion of the year the panals are covered in snow.
Ugly, just ugly as hell.

Eh?? You have to compare countries by per capita. A person in the UK and USA produces more co2 than a person in China. Are you struggling with that basic concept? You have over 4 times the population in China v USA. Base it on per country, China produces more co2, based it on per person, Americans produce more co2.

I think all this co2 climate change is a pile of crap, but it doesn't mean I have to ignore and diss basic stats.

If "Climate Change" from CO2 was a real concern why is China doing all this?

You're either being paid to say this or getting played for believing it

I just said the co2 climate change is a pile of crap. Have you put alcohol on your cereal this morning??

Did you know that if China isn't lying about their population thanks to the one child policy, they have roughly the same population as India, yet China produces 400% more CO2

They do produce 400% more co2. If you break it down per capita to compare countries, the UK and USA pollute more per person. Do you understand that?

If you compared rapes by country, would you look at total or per capita?

Not sure we're the arguement on basic statistics has come from :dunno:
