Mail in voting has been happening for decades without much of any problems. There was a very big problem with it in the 2018 election in North Carolina. The republicans cheated so much that a whole new election had to be held.

Unfortunately, it is obviously not physically safe to vote where large groups congregate. Very early voting may alleviate the exposure.

Voting in person will not prevent fraud, since the voter ID is no longer used in the voting places. The exception has to be made due to this virus so that people can vote.
