I have asked repeatedly for lefties to gives examples of successful communist countries. THEY CANNOT.
Well, not that anyone was advocating for "Communism", but if you want a good example, I would give you China, quickly on the way to replacing us as the world's top economy.
Although I would argue that China's success is less about "Communism vs. Captialism" (As both of our systems have a little of both) and more about the efficiency of a technocracy vs. a democracy.
Look at the Korean Peninsula from space at night. The lit up part is SOUTH KOREA. The dark part is NORTH KOREA.
Lefties, tell us again how great communism is!
Explain in great detail.
Sure. the problem is your little graphic ignores Korean History.
Before the Cold War or the World Wars, Korea had always been an isolated country. It was called the "Hermit Kingdom" even back under the Joseon Dynasty (which was finally toppled when Japan annexed the country in 1910 after defeating Qing China and Tsarist Russia for dominance.
From 1910 to 1945, the Japanese not only looted the country for every natural resource it had, but went so far as forcing their women into prostitution to support their war effort. Ick.
Then came the Korean War, which inflicted even more misery on the country.
Now, what happened AFTER the Korean War is where it all went South...
N. Korea's benefactors in Russia and China largely just left it to its own devices, and a weird Kim Dynasty emerged that turned it into an odd dystopian state.
MEANWHILE, the West dumped shitloads of money into South Korea to prop up the dictatorships of
Syngman Rhee and Park Chung Lee, which lasted for decades. Eventually, they transitioned to a democracy, but it's probably one of the most dysfunctional democracies in the world.
Like President
Yoon Suk Yeol, who tried to declare Martial Law last year. Or the previous President Park Geun-hye who was forced to resign when it was found she was consulting a psychic to help her run the country.
