Low Gas Prices, Yay! OPEC's worst nightmae.

Saw that at the pump this morning.

Thank you President Trump!

Presidents ain't got jack shit to do with gas prices, Hackmouth. Have any idea what "international fungible commodity" means?

Actually a President can have an effect on gas prices LONG TERM, but very little in the short term. It’s true it is fungible, but it’s also true that US produces a large amount of the world supply. If a president enacts policies to thwart US production.....well supply and demand takes over.

BTW- the Dems were just blaming Trump back in May for high gas prices, so you might want to share your insight with your Liberal buddies.

I loved Carter...
Nothing like a bumper sticker saying, “We want oil, not Jews.”.
On the other hand, Carter is a Jew Hating pos.

Gas prices will get lower as pipelines and refineries come online.

Kinda off-topic, but steel is coming back, too. :113:
Expansions as no real new refineries are being built..........and massive measures to treat the sweet crude is ongoing..............booming where I'm at in that application............

As long as the old refineries can keep up with demand no new refineries will be built.......But these refineries are still very old..........need new ones.

did carter stop the wells in Texas or did they simply dry up?
I was there when Jimmy(the peanut brain) Carter has said that the world was going to run out of oil in 35 years. That was why he enacted the odd and even days of gas. Funny that we are sitting on the largest supply of energy, than the rest of the world combined. What a retard he was..I know typical liberal.....

there was an oil embargo i think it was on Iran...due to the hostage crisis... if memory serves and this is why oil sky rocketed....??

We were in lines for hours to get gas and you couldn't even fill the tank up.............and the gas stations ran out of gas while waiting......LOL

Was kinda like hurricane gas lines without the hurricane...............LOL

Are you talking about the gas lines in the 70's that went for miles?

Yes................

That shit was crazy......but while I'm sure there were fights and upset people, most did well with patience...……..oh my, could you imagine that happening today when people get nuts because of the lack of cashiers, and there's only 1 or 2 people ahead of them???

Ahem..new refinery:

Largest new U.S. oil refinery in nearly 40 years slated for South Texas

Not going to happen in the states, years ago I remember a study on this and the numbers were staggering. Technical improvements is all we can count on to increase production.

Basically the money outlaid and the time to recoup that investment on a new refinery has quadrupled between the 1970's and 2000's from 5-7 years to 20-25 years. Plus nobody is willing to live near a refinery by choice so it would be a fight for the land to do it.

Well I am wrong on that,

Production were I work at is pretty much maxed out..............and yes we are constantly upgrading the automation process with newer instruments and replacing old piping systems............Pain in the ass though.........the old wiring and duct banks are still a problem............And trying to replace them while running is a pain in the ass for us.

Actually, the price was $.35 before the Arab oil embargo. After that, the price doubled, gas rationing based on tag number ensued. Daylight saving time was implemented in January ‘74, highway speed limits were forced to 55 mph, the economy tanked as a result of high oil prices and stayed that way for the rest of the decade.
Carter’s failure with the overthrow of the shah in ‘79 led to more gas rationing, another spike in prices up to $1.00 and the economy went from bad to worse.
Reagan’s inauguration led to the release of American hostages and the renewal of Iranian oil. Oil extraction in Canada and Mexico flooded the market and led to economic recovery until the 2000’s when India and China economies put the squeeze on supply and the price went back up. $4.00/gallon.
Removal of drilling restrictions under W Bush dropped the price to $1.50 but Obama’s immediate reimplementation of drilling restrictions drove the price back up to over $4.00 and fucked our economy for another 7-8 years.
Fracking saved the day.

Nice to hear.......it would be easier on us if we could tear down some of these old plants and start from scratch...........LOL

Royal pain dealing with system upgrades from the 60's..........LOL

Looked at a system a while back.........trying to figure out where all that old junk went to..............Found Dial up modems........that had been deleted .........I kid you not...........LOL

Come on down to the Still Republican run state of Florida where only a pocket full of lunatic lefties live. The rest of the State, that doesn't tax your income and has pretty low gasoline prices welcomes law abiding citizens with open arms. Unless you want reside in those liberal pockets of idiocy....

Err..I live in one of those liberal pockets of idiocy.

I cannot believe people would not vote to increase homestead exemption. I think the election was rigged.
It was run on, the scam that if more exemptions were increased then teacher pay and schools would lose out money. That and the prop 3 where voters now have the right to say NO to gambling casinos, again that was supposed to fund schools but never does....
many many many moons ago, when I lived there, the state passed LOTTO, supposedly to pay for schools and teachers.... are they still using teachers and schools as the excuse for other things like casinos????

that's what you get when you don't have a state income tax.... they get taxes from you one way or another

Actually, there was a referendum on that last time. Now the voters get to decide about gambling. Lotto is still state. The payouts and what the schools get are less, but the state gets more.

They get their taxes the fair way. State sales tax of 7%. Everyone pays their fair share, and we sock it to those overseas people like rich Saudi's when they go to Disney World or Universal.. Near me a dog race/Poker palace is closed, looks that way for a few years, because the area it was put in, didnt do very well, as the gambling created even more POOR along with Obama's 8 years. Now the area is booming again, more shops are opening, people are very happy, that a Socialist didnt get elected....

Oy........ghey.

What a phoney....when gas prices fell in 2010, it was an Obama accomplishment. Lol....when prices fall under a GOP president, "president have nothing to do with gas prices!"

Ghey
