Loving Your Children Versus Loving Your Stuff

Anecdotes, anomalies, and bandwidth consuming copy and paste do NOT prove how the majority of teachers in America think, and how they interact with their students. Do you buy those tabloids at the checkout and study them at home thinking they are an accurate representation of reality?

There Are None So Blind As Those Who Will Not See

You might want to think about that in light of your absolute lack of experience in the field you keep harping on.

Unk, you incessantly claim that people with advanced degrees (in whatever subject) have no experience in "education." This is absurd. I went to school full-time (or FTE) for twenty two years, and many who post here have a similar level of educational experience. Furthermore, we see what our kids bring home from school - and I'm not talking about homework, I'm talking about political and cultural garbage, as cited in PoliChik's many citations and links.

It is you, who have extensive experience doing ONE job in a SINGLE school district who might want to think about broadening his scope.

This is probably worth a separate thread, but it is apropos here:

The Founding Fathers WERE "racist." Undoubtedly. Manifestly.

While many of them held a theoretical and religious belief that "all men are created equal" in some sense, none of them doubted for even a second, that Black Africans were an inferior people, coming from vastly inferior cultures. And while there had always been a few examples of gifted "Negro" individuals with exemplary intellect, as a general proposition none of them (the Founders) held any illusion that slaves, whether emancipated or not, would in time become "equal" with the prevailing white society.

This is why slavery was tolerated for eighty-some years after the nation's founding. And truth be told, the Abolitionists who pushed for emancipation did not live in areas where large numbers of Blacks lived, so had little to fear from emancipation, unlike those who lived in the South

This is definitional "racism."

Unk, you incessantly claim that people with advanced degrees (in whatever subject) have no experience in "education."....

No I don't. I "claim" that people who have no experience working in the field of education that they have no experience working in the field of education.

An actual choice.

1.In the big picture, what stuff of yours is so valuable to you, that it is worth raising kids who believe that the only things that count are race, class and gender?

“Teacher union leader says ‘white supremacy’ fuels reopening efforts, concerns over lockdown suicides are ‘white privilege’” Teacher union leader says 'white supremacy' fuels reopening efforts, concerns over lockdown suicides are 'white privilege' - Conservative News Outlet

If the government school system is your choice, you are bequeathing to your kids that mantra, ‘race, class, and gender,’ over knowledge, the ability to reason, and the exceptionalism of America.

2. The basis of the thread title is that many have come to accept that two earners are necessary to succeed. And, the economics of modern life may indicate that. But consider the reason: government is your partner in fully half of what you earn: taxes, fees, licenses, fines, ….add ‘em all up: it’s the half of your income that you’d have if only one parent went to work, and the other raised the kids: not the school system.

You wouldn’t have to give up those material things that you are choosing over raising and educating your children if half of your income wasn't being stolen in the vote-buying scheme.

3. Who to blame? Which is the ‘tax and spend’ party?

“But he did identify what he called “tactical lessons.” He let himself look too much like “the same old tax-and-spend liberal Democrat.” Education of a President (Published 2010)

Sometimes, they let on:

"Dan Rostenkowski, standing next to the candidate in front of the cameras and the cheering crowd at the convention after the fateful speech, whispered to Mondale, "You've got a lot of balls, pal." According to Rostenkowski, Mondale whispered back, "Look at 'em, we're going to tax their ass off."
"Showdown At Gucci Gulch," Jeffrey H. Birnbaum And Alan S. Murray, page 35

4. Shouldn’t it be the parent’s choice, nay, obligation, to determine what sort of outlook, worldview, their progeny have? Or is it the prerogative of government…. ‘experts’ on your children.

What if the stark choice is between these two poles:

“Cultural Marxism, though it’s dismissed by critics as a “term invented by the Right”, “was an undeniable school of thought taking Marxist categories of oppressed and oppressor beyond the economic realm and applying to it other forms of oppression: gender, race, sexuality.” Caldron Pool

On Wednesday, June 6, 1928 the Oxford English Dictionary was completed. In The Meaning of Everything, Simon Winchester discusses the English of the time as follows:

“The English establishment of the day might be rightly derided at this remove as having been class-ridden and imperialist, bombastic and blimpish, racist and insouciant- but it was marked undeniably also by a sweeping erudition and confidence, and it was peopled by men and women who felt they were able to know all, to understand much, and in consequence to radiate the wisdom of deep learning.”

5. Are there material possession that are more valuable to you than the investment in your children?
Bet you can't name any.

So why are you behaving as though there were?

"Yellen: We Will Hike Company Taxes, Looking at Capital Gains

... the Biden Administration is looking to boost the corporate tax rate to 28% (up from the Trump administration’s 21%) in an effort to additional tax revenue.

Yellen also said a greater tax on individuals and their investments was “worth considering.”

'Cause, you know.....we don't pay enough to government.....

Democrats voted for this.

My reading skills are strong. Your writing skills are suspect. Now, would you care to answer the question directly, and in your own words?

What has been revealed is that you are simply fearful of recognizing what has become of the profession you chose.

Disappointing in an adult.

What has been revealed is that you are simply fearful of recognizing what has become of the profession you chose.

What has been revealed is the fact that you know nothing about the profession you keep addressing endlessly beyond what you can Google about it. You are afraid to admit that you are ignorant as to the day-to-day functions concerns training and execution within that field. Without Google you would have absolutely nothing to say about it, which as it turns out IS exactly what you have to say about it.

Abolish our alleged wars on crime, drugs, and terror; right wingers don't want to pay wartime tax rates for it with tax cut economics!

The demands at times were simple: get teachers vaccinated, require masks at school (Gov. Larry Hogan did that in a Tuesday executive order), and improve ventilation. Vaccines have been a source of continual frustration. Many protesters objected that teachers find it very hard to find vaccines. In fact, a PTA-like group called MoCo Vax Hunters formed to find vaccine appointments for teachers. According to Montgomery County Public Schools, 5,427 public-school teachers in the county have been vaccinated as of Tuesday.

These things, vaccines and better ventilation, would make things safer for sure. But many teachers went overboard in stating the dangers of teaching.
Now could be the best time upgrade infrastructure. Shovel ready jobs waiting to happen. Why do right wingers have a problem with it?

Make-work jobs are an economic mistake.
