It turns out that the foundational elements of Trumpism -- rage, frustration, paranoia, bigotry, xenophobia, hyper-nationalism, autocracy -- have been bubbling under the surface for a long time, and fed by talk radio and right wing media. Trump came along and was more than willing to light the match, because it glorifies him.Trump and Trumpism is toxic in today's society. There are still many supporting Trump and Trumpism. But many of those outspoken supporters of the outlandish conspiracy theories, falsely claiming the election was fraudulent, white supremacy, advocating overthrowing the democratic process and everything else that goes with Trumpism, are being held accountable. People are losing jobs and more. Trumpism is toxic.

I think it's possible that this disaster may turn out to be a positive. These people are now out in the open, we know they're not what we thought they were, and we now know how much work still needs to be done. Like an alcoholic who has gone too far, maybe we just needed to hit rock bottom before we could advance as a country.
