Liz Cheney just cleverly got the media to spend the next news cycle talking about why Trump White House Counsel Pat Cipollone should publicly testify. When a reluctant witness is not guilty of anything but doesn’t want the spotlight, you put the spotlight directly on them.

The media always has time to cover just how bad Orange man is.

They can't seem to get enough

In fact, I imagine when Trump is long buried and dead, they will have other hearings.

ICEBERG The mob takes the 5th

The number of Team Trump insiders who've invoked their Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination is much higher than we previously knew.

How many Trump insiders pleaded the Fifth in the Jan. 6 probe?

The number of Team Trump insiders who've invoked their Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination is much higher than we previously knew.

It was nearly six years ago when Donald Trump made a comment at a Florida rally he probably wishes he could take back.
“The mob takes the Fifth Amendment,” the then-candidate said at the time, deriding those who assert their right against self-incrimination. “If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”

It was a rhetorical question that came to mind during yesterday’s Jan. 6 committee hearing, as Vice Chair Liz Cheney thanked the witnesses for participating in the proceedings. From the transcript:
t’s been an honor to spend time with you and with our previous witnesses here today. To date, more than 30 witnesses called before this committee have not done what you’ve done, but have invoked their Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination.”

That number stood out, in part because it’s such a large total, and in part because it’s much higher than we previously knew.
Circling back to our earlier coverage, there are several high-profile figures from Team Trump whom we already knew pleaded the Fifth:
  • John Eastman, a Republican lawyer who allegedly played a leading role in the overall coup scheme, reportedly pleaded the Fifth — by some accounts, roughly 100 times.
  • Roger Stone, a longtime Trump adviser and GOP operative, said two weeks later that he also pleaded the Fifth.
  • Alex Jones, by his own admission, pleaded the Fifth nearly 100 times when the professional conspiracy theorist sat down with congressional investigators.
  • Jeffrey Clark, a former Justice Department official, also pleaded the Fifth, reportedly more than 100 times.
  • Michael Flynn, the beneficiary of a Trump pardon despite having previously pled guilty to felonies, pleaded the Fifth in response to investigators’ questions in March.
If Cheney’s comments were accurate, however, we’re not talking about five people from Team Trump who were concerned about giving self-incriminating answers; we’re talking about 30 such people.

To be sure, Americans have these rights under the Constitution. If members of the former president’s team have reason to be concerned about possible prosecution, it’s not too surprising that their legal counsel would encourage them to invoke their Fifth Amendment rights.
What’s more, it’s also worth noting that Cheney wasn’t specific about who these people were, and it’s at least possible that some of the group didn’t work for the Trump administration or the former president’s political operation.

Liz Cheney "The Bush Avenger" spending every last ounce of her energy to battle her arch nemesis Donald Trump. I guess there are no problems that she needs to address for the people in her district who elected her.

May be an image of text that says '|CAN'T TESTIFY UNDER ΟΑΤΗ BECAUSE I LIE ALL THE TIME'

I can not wait until he is put under oath. It's coming. No way around it.

11% popularity in Wyoming... She is gone in the Aug primary. nothing will save her. Pelosi is using her the most politically driven way she can before the useful idiot is removed from office. The desperation is palpable.

Cheney has neocon TDS, which is one of the most dangerous strains there is. Can you imagine being so confused and bored that you thought it would be useful to listen to her talk? And who the hell is doing the booking for the Reagan library? For her to speak there is an insult to RR.

She is going to address the neocon wing of the republican party. The old guard that is being swept from power. Not many people are going to see her.

Many Trump endorsed Republican candidates are winning. Most were favorites anyway. Here is the disturbing part. These candidates support the view that Trump won the election and the coup attempt on Jan. 6, 2021. If they didn't believe that, they would not have gotten Trump's endorsement.

In other words, Republicans running for office -- governor, secretary of state, state legislatures, U.S. Congress, etc. -- support the attempted overthrow of the elected government on Jan. 6, 2021.
Republicans have gone off the deep end!

CNN reports, "The Republican Party of Texas over the weekend adopted a resolution at its state convention that rejects President Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 election, further aligning the state party establishment with former President Donald Trump in pushing false election claims.

“We reject the certified results of the 2020 Presidential election, and we hold that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States,” reads the resolution."

Republicans are just as nuts in Missouri.

"Eric Greitens, a leading contender for the Republican Senate nomination in Missouri, released a new video in which he is depicted as hunting RINOs (Republicans in Name Only)," CNN.

"I’m Eric Greitens, Navy SEAL, and today we’re going RINO hunting.” Greitens says as he walks down a sidewalk with a gun in hand.

The video cuts to a house where Greitens, surrounded by what looks like a tactical unit, waits by the door. “The RINO feeds on corruption and is marked by the stripes of cowardice,” says Greitens. The unit smashes the door down and throws what looks like a smoke grenade. Greitens strides through the door. “Join the MAGA crew,” he says. “Get a RINO hunting permit. There’s no bagging limit, no tagging limit and it doesn’t expire until we save our country.”

Greitens is a former governor of Missouri. According to Wikipedia, "In February 2018, Greitens was charged with felony invasion of privacy and later with campaign-related offenses. He was indicted on felony charges of computer tampering in April 2018;[8] all charges were dropped in May 2018. Greitens resigned from office on June 1, 2018,[9] after the Missouri General Assembly commenced a special session to consider impeachment."

The Jan. 6 select committee made its most forceful case on Thursday that former Republican President Donald Trump's attempt to overturn the 2020 election was more than an affront to the democratic process — it was a crime.

What is wrong with the Republican Party?
