On January 16, 1999, a Southern politician with a mop of faintly graying hair stood on the floor of the United States Senate and made a striking proclamation about what it meant to impeach a president.

“You don’t even have to be convicted of a crime to lose your job in this constitutional republic if this body determines that your conduct as a public official is clearly out of bounds in your role,” the politician said. “Impeachment is not about punishment. Impeachment is about cleansing the office. Impeachment is about restoring honor and integrity to the office.”

That man was South Carolina’s own Lindsey Graham, then a 43-year-old, third-term Republican Congressman. The president in question was Bill Clinton.

What's Lindsey saying now?

He seems to have a different opinion huh...

Yes he does, just like Democrats had an entirely different opinion when Clinton was getting impeached. Want to hear what they said back then????

Yea...that lying about a private sexual affair is not something a President should be removed from office for

What about using the power of the presidency too coerce others into doing your lying for you?

Lying to a court IS something that a President should be impeached for. You'll note that he was NOT removed from office.

No, but multiple felonies are. When you lie to a federal grand jury, it doesn't' matter if you're lying about a murder or lying about a jaywalking ticket. You lied under oath, and doing so makes you a felon, which is higher than a misdemeanor (high crimes and misdemeanors) outlined in the US Constitution.

What unimpeachable act ddI Graham ever vote for?

Did he try to impeach Obama?
He voted in the HOUSE for Impeachment and he was one of the GOP Managers in the Senate

And

"During Clinton’s impeachment proceedings, Graham recalled that President Richard Nixon made himself vulnerable to impeachment when he refused to comply with congressional subpoenas, effectively taking away Congress’ ability to conduct oversight.

Last week, Graham recommended Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump, Jr., ignore a subpoena from the Senate Intelligence Committee".

Do try to get some education this year.

The Executive Branch has the right to challenge subpoenas issued by the Legislative Branch in court. The Democrats decided not to pursue the issue. They are after all co-equal branches of government.

Is Graham a hypocrite? I think we have long known he was.

Senator Robert Byrd said that Clinton's crimes did meet the level of impeachment but that he would not vote to impeach.

The (D)'s are foolish to expect the (R)'s to do what they would not do.

There's a tinge of irony in that Clinton agreed to testify under oath after Starr made it clear Billy would be subpoenaed. It was during that testimony when he lied.

Trump would have told Starr to go fuck himself, that neither Starr or Congress were within their rights to investigate him, and he would have tried to block any and all cooperation with Starr..............after assassinating Starr's character.

As for Lindsey, here's what he said................“I am trying to give a pretty clear signal I have made up my mind. I’m not trying to pretend to be a fair juror here.” In another proud moment for the POT Mitch McTreason said he is in bed with the WH lawyers and has no intention of holding an actual trial..............causing James Madison to roll over in his grave.

Let's remember that Clinton agreed to testify and it cost him.

Trump refused to testify BECAUSE it would cost him.

Trump is being charged with serious offenses

Clinton was being hounded about a CIVIL case and a BJ
