Man, Mark Twain had to be some sorta of psychic or other worldly entity or something. I mean, looking at our presidential primary on BOTH sides is eye popping. On the Democrat side we have a socialist (comunist) against a chronic liar. On the Republican we have an anti PC, PC Democrat against a career politician and all four are going for the number one spot in the country. Now all the elections I have paid attention to, facts were met with facts and they came from decent sources. Digging around here in past threads, if anyone quoted a Facebook post as a fact, well it just did not go well for them. Go check it out you'll see what I mean. I mean damn, what happened to everyone? Even the media is flat crazy. Are we at the point where we don't listen to what ones out of these guys mouths, but instead base a decision on a tweet or a face book post? Dang. Mayhap the conspiracy wackos are right. Maybe it's time to bust out the tin foil and stock up on bullets beans and bandaid's.

Mark Twain was a smart guy with a sense of humor who paid attention, that's all. In spite of all the talk of evolution, human beings still do the same stuff over and over. No need to make yourself a tin foil hat.

I work nights in a stinky, hot noisey environment. That tends to make us all grumpy. Lunch time awhile back the trump guy almost beat the hell out of the other guy. It's a trip how crazy these things get. Only thing that bothers me is that no one asks these guys any questions. None. Meh, more Mark Twain. I really like this one.

Look at the tyranny of party -- at what is called party allegiance, party loyalty -- a snare invented by designing men for selfish purposes -- and which turns voters into chattles, slaves, rabbits, and all the while their masters, and they themselves are shouting rubbish about liberty, independence, freedom of opinion, freedom of speech, honestly unconscious of the fantastic contradiction; and forgetting or ignoring that their fathers and the churches shouted the same blasphemies a generation earlier when they were closing their doors against the hunted slave, beating his handful of humane defenders with Bible texts and billies, and pocketing the insults and licking the shoes of his Southern master.
- "The Character of Man," inserted in autobiographical dictation 23 January 1906. Published in Autobiography of Mark Twain, Volume 1 (University of California Press, 2010)

Change a word here and there and it describes us today. Great stuff.
