I blush to admit that this election and the machinations that have surrounded it have torn my family apart.

While I can easily live among people whose political views are different from mine, I will not break bread with anyone who says or even believes that I am evil, a Fascist, or too stupid to "see the light." And I have tried but failed to make rational arguments for my positions, but logic and truthfulness are not are not held in high esteem on the political Left.

Well let's face it, Trump comes off badly.
He appears to be a greedy and insensitive person who is at least slightly abusive towards women.
The only problems are he did well as president last time, and Harris came off as liking all the mistakes Biden made.
The prosecutions of Trump also were clearly wrong, so Trump got my sympathy vote.
So there really is nothing to argue about at family get togethers.
Neither candidate was really good.

Why would anyone who holds significantly different viewpoints EVER be welcome in one’s home? That doesn’t make any sense to me.

Because they actually have the exact same values, but both parties have been given false information about what is really happening or happened.
It is not a question of different viewpoints, but of false propaganda.

It was that way with my neighbors when I still lived in WA State.

Now that I live in a Red State, it's difficult to find neighbors who disagree with me.

My only remaining family agree with me and still live in WA.

For me this is a POLICY issue, not a Party issue. It’s not Democrat vs Republican or Legal vs Illrgal, it’s Right vs Wrong.

We had Thanksgiving a couple weeks ago without my sister-in-law Stephanie and her husband Gadiel. Why? Because he smokes marijuana and is an alcoholic. Despite the fact that they’re legal here in Massachusetts, alcohol, tobacco and marijuana are not allowed on my property or in my home. So that portion of the family doesn’t come here and I don’t go to their home.
