Liberals Think We're Jerks For Wanting To Control Spending

Have at it boys:
presidents-proposed-discretionary-spending.png

Personally, I'd cut 5% from the military and place 2% of that into science and split the other 3% between the other areas.
You have been on this "science" kick....Well, define "science".....Offer up a specific example of "science".....
Oh, we once had the largest and most sophisticated science lab ..It was called the Space Shuttle.
In any event, when I see "investment in science" I envision some douchebag at Dartmouth who has this off the wall theory concerning the molecular composition of drinking straws at Mc Donalds and wants $3 million to prove his theory...
Or the math professor at the MIT who can't figure out the latest super equation ( that HE invented) and needs $5 million to buy some super computer to assist him in proving his mathematical theorem.
And of course there is the students at UCLA or one of those California schools that got over $600k in federal money so that they could study the sexual libido of a certain species of sea gull while the birds were under the influence of cocaine....That last example REALLY happened.
So when you spout off about federal (taxpayer) investment in science, be very careful....Why? Because the blank checks have all be tossed into the incinerator. We're watching.

It really depends on what it is. If it benefits America = leave it alone.

Infrastructure, science and investment into r&d = benefiting America.

It is a insane idea to cut those.

Why not raise taxes on the rich a little and cut welfare, waste and foreign aid?
Their goal is to destroy Social security destroy any protection for labor so that exploitation of the 99 percent by the one percent can accelerate...its why Conservatives are nasty...
Dear vacuum between tghe ears....Have you noticed that everyone is ignoring your idiotic shit you've posted here.
You barely have a right to an opinion.
Tut tut....Don't post back..Don't even think of responding.....This is not a discussion. This is me telling you what I think.....I don't care what you think..So I'm saving you key strokes.
(Sound of door closing)

And the big picture with what can't be cut, like paying for the debt:
presidents-proposed-total-spending.png

The funny thing is the republicans want to Cut that 1% science and that 3% transportion!!! Things that help the little guy here at home = cut!!!

Dumb.
No the funny thing is you can't prove that....And once more, saying we must spend on "science" isn't good enough....Answer this...WHICH science?

Republicans don't want to cut spending. They want to shift spending out of social programs and into defense.
Nope. But thanks for playing.

Provide a link for that and we'll discuss.

Really?....You need a link for that?

Yes

Why would you need a link to something you don't dispute?
Because I did dispute it you lying POS

Post a link backing up your claim or STFU

What do you dispute, specifically?

1. That the GOP wants to increase defense spending

2. That the GOP wants to cut domestic spending on social programs

Mention spending cuts or even controlling spending and it's like holding up a cross in front of a vampire. They react violently at times. Most of the time they claim that spending cuts will bring this country down.

On Monday, President Obama released his 2016 budget, which calls for increased spending and raising taxes, and on MSNBC’s The Cycle, so-called conservative co-host Abby Huntsman did her best to scold the GOP for opposing the tax-and-spend Obama budget.

Speaking to Lauren Fox of National Journal, Huntsman proclaimed that Republicans’ “big thing is we’ve got to cut spending, this is not something we’re going to approve and that’s often why they are considered the jerks here, because they aren’t talking about entitlements, they are talking about cuts.”

Think of it. In only a few years since Obama has become president, we've gone from clamoring for spending reform to you're a terrorist for wanting to control government spending.

Anyone with half a brain can see one of the biggest problems in government isn't that we don't have any money, it's that we spend too much. So Democrats invented a word for it to demonize the practice. Austerity. Anyone who starts talking about Austerity and recommending new investment is just pumping us for more tax increases. That's really all Democrats do. They try to think of new ways of taking our cash. Spending is now investment. Controlling spending is evil austerity. Anyone who falls for this line of bs can't be thinking. The answer to everything in Washington is always throwing more money at it, yet the problems never get solved. Obama wants to give the IRS $30 billion more to become more and more inefficient. Seems the more money he throws at a problem the worse it becomes. The IRS has massively increase their budget, hired thousands of new agents, yet if you have a question about your taxes, forget getting an answer. They warn about holding up refunds this year because they claim they need more money.

Notice how everything Obama touches turns to shit?

Still mired in scandal for its mishandling of nonprofit political groups, the Internal Revenue Service is prepping for a new role: chief enforcement arm of the Affordable Care Act.

That task will require new agents — 6,700, the IRS figures — and more money — about $1 billion more than the current budget.

Confronted with the tax agency’s 9-percent increase in its 2014 budget, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., blasted Deputy IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel at a meeting of the House Committee on Ways and Means Thursday morning.

After reading off a long list of instances of waste, fraud, excess and abuse at the agency over the past several years, Ryan demanded to know how the IRS felt it had the “moral authority” to ask for more money. He actually sounded almost hurt by the request.

"Infrastructure, science and investment into r&d = benefiting America."

Americans don't even know what those words mean.

You apparently don't know what a bad road or an unsafe bridge is.
The states should be funding these things. Not the federal government. The reason why there are roads in poor condition is because the states that have them decided to steal form their road funds and spend the money on other things. They did this because they knew they could ask the federal govt to make up the difference.
The federal government operates depending upon which party is in charge and whether or not it is an election year.
Now, you want to create new taxes or increase existing ones to fix roads and bridges? Fine. First, there must be a comprehensive law written that makes it unlawful for any money taken form taxpayers for the specific purpose of spending on roads and bridges to be spent anywhere else. NOTHING.. No mass transit. No beautification projects. No roads to nowhere. No 6 lane bridges to island vacation spots when a two lane bridge will do.

Good idea. Let's do away with all spending and all taxes. Privatize everything including the military. If you're really serious about what you're asking this makes perfect sense. I say put your mouth where you're money is.
That's fucking stupid. And it is in violation of the US Constitution....

Provide a link to the Republicans in the last election who ran on cutting defense.

that makes no sense at all. Why would anyone in their right mind cut defense with all of the new threats we have today.

ISIS taking Northern Iraq
Russian aggression
Chinese expansion
Al Qaeda is growing again
Talliban is growing

ISIS is nowhere near the supposed threat that Iraq was.
Russian Aggression in 2015 is a tenth what it was in 1980
Chinese Expansion is about the same as it always was
Al Queda is decimated as is the Taliban. It's growth is of little concern.
And here are some Q tips so you can clean the sand out of your ears.
Look, go do whatever it is your do with yourself until such time as some cause which upsets your radical feminism is aroused.

Are you blind, deaf, and dumb? NeoCon's are always talking about "the takers" yet have no problem spending money on weapons we don't even need. Here's just one example.

U.S.: Republican Frontrunner Touts Neo-Conservative Foreign Policy

WASHINGTON, Oct 7 2011 (IPS) - In his first major foreign policy address of the 2012 presidential campaign, Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney Friday presented a largely neo-conservative platform similar to that pursued by George W. Bush, although he never mentioned the former president by name.

Speaking at The Citadel military academy in South Carolina, Romney promised to increase defence spending – and the size of the U.S. Navy – as part of a strategy designed to ensure that the United States remain the world’s dominant military power and that the 21st century be “an American century”.

“The United States should always retain military supremacy to deter would-be aggressors and to defend our allies and ourselves,” he told the Citadel cadets. “And know this: If America is the undisputed leader of the world, it reduces our need to police a more chaotic world.”

Republicans don't want to cut spending. They want to shift spending out of social programs and into defense.

There's a few who do. But they are increasingly more and more rare. The neocon chickenhawks don't exist in the wild anymore. You can only find them in zoos and couple private collections. What most Republicans want is reduced spending, greater fiscal responsibility, paying down the debt, and tax relief.

Unfortunately, the most common goal of most Republicans is to cut your spending. That needs to change.

Just for the sake of entertainment. Do you why we even have a Constitution. I mean obviously we much better off under the Articles of Confederation which also provided Canada with statehood and a President whom is never mentioned in our history books.

I would suggest you do some research, then come back.

Here's a start.

The Project for the New American Century (PNAC) was established in 1997 by a number of leading neoconservative writers and pundits to advocate aggressive U.S. foreign policies and "rally support for American global leadership." One of the group's founding documents claimed, "a Reaganite policy of military strength and moral clarity may not be fashionable today. But it is necessary if the United States is to build on the successes of this past century and to ensure our security and our greatness in the next."

No I think you guys are jerks for saying you want to control spending, but when there's an opportunity to do entitlement reform in exchange for new revenue that wouldn't hurt growth and would have 3-4 times more cuts than taxes .... you walk away from the table. The gop and teaparty no more want to control spending than Randian Paul wants vaccines.

The purpose of increasing taxes is?
Ah, to pay our bills.

And, what part of this is down a rat hole?
presidents-proposed-discretionary-spending.png
Here's the conundrum ..One would not need to increase inbound revenue if he did not spend more than he took in.
There is fat in every single department that can be cut.
Joe B brought up the proverbial $600 the military allegedly spends on a toilet seat...
Do you not think there are $600 toilet seats in other federal depts?
There is no need to increase taxes if federal depts did not spend beyond their budgets or better than that, did not unnecessarily spend to the limit of their budgets.
For example, if the dept of redundancy has a budget of $10 and lets say the current FY was a good one. Everything worked according to plan. And lo and behold it looks like the budget is going to work out....Suddenly the Federal Dept of Redundancy's boss bashes through your office door. She alerts you that because the Dept or Redundancy has spent only $8 of their $10 budget, it must spend the other $2 before the end of the FY otherwise the Federal Dept of Redundancy will receive a ( GASP!!!!) budget cut.....
So instead of spending what was required to efficiently run the dept, Federal Redundancy decided to toss $2 (20%) down a rat hole...
GET IT?
Or are you really that much of a government suck up?
