The Left starting blowing this pretty much out of the gate. The violence, the band-aid approach of toppling statues and re-naming buildings, defunding police -- it all gives the Right an excuse to change the subject away from the core issues by playing the victim.

This is just another great example of how mindless adhesion to an ideology is destructive, not constructive, and why tribalism and a lack of honesty & critical thinking are killing us.

With Leftists, one must always keep in mind that their words don't always mean what the words themselves mean.

"De-fund the police" doesn't mean de-fund the police. It means, "Re-imagine the police as an unarmed social service agency."

Unfortunately, the actual people who sign up to be police officers did NOT sign up to be social workers, although that is part of the deal. And most of the time when people call for the police, they are doing so because of a serious threat to their persons or property, a threat which a social worker is ill equipped to resolve.

This is a moment in history where one actually hopes that the people who are demanding something GET IT. When "we" minimize the police presence in the Black community, its horrific record of violent crime will only get worse.

Because Black Lives don't matter much to other Black people. And because "racism" is not their main problem. It is, at most, #3 on the list.
