Most of the liberals on this thread don't know who Ward Churchill is. That is a good thing. Churchill was a fringe liberal who was so far left he almost fell off the grid.
If liberals heard what he espoused, they'd probably surprised as we were that he held any job in academia. I give liberals credit for that.
Thanks. If only Mac could acknowledge that. I see nobody lying or deflecting in this thread. They are only asking why they should be forced to condemn the comments of a man almost nobody has heard of. This entire thread was built off of a strawman.
I'm more than happy to acknowledge that most liberals don't or wouldn't agree with what Churchill said, whether they know who he is or not.
All I did was ask for comments from the Left. Why? Well, I'd guess that there is a small percentage who actually agree with him, just as there would be a small percentage on the Right who would agree some crazy thing hardcore right winger said. But I would also guess, and I think I've been proven right, that many would avoid the same kind of clear, passionate attack on him that they would wage on a right winger. My point is about the intellectual dishonesty of partisan ideologues.
And of course there has been deflection. Names of wild-eyed right wing partisans like Glenn Beck and Ann Coulter have been thrown into the conversation specifically to move us from the topic of the OP. That's the very definition of "deflection".
You folks have taken my relatively benign posts, inferred what you have inferred, and have become very defensive. Not my fault.
