I think he demonstrated the progressive mindset. They think only of themselves, and therefore assume that selfishiness is the motivation for everyone. They dont seem to understand that wealth creation occurs by thinking of others.

I don't think my employer should be making healthcare decisions for me. It is not in his best interests. The obvious solution would be a national healthcare system with NO insurance companies as middle men
Since that was deemed socialism from the right, the next obvious solution is for the government to set up insurance pools so that people could qualify for group rates.
That was derided as a government takeover of healthcare. The only remaining solution is to maintain what we have now with employers providing health insurance
It sucks, but that is what we ended up with

Clearly the government should be making the decisions instead. Because it's not in their best interests to have alot of people dead to cut costs.

And what about the hundreds of thousands of small and mid-size businesses who are already struggling in a tough economy, doing everything they can just to keep their business afloat?

What would you tell them?

I would tell them that the Affordable Care Act Helps Small Businesses.

How many of these "struggling small and mid size businesses" employ 50 or more people? If you DO employee 50 or more people, why aren't you already providing health care?

To continue staying in business obviously.

Suppose it never occurred to you that one spouse can work in a place that has no health insurance, but a flexible work schedule, while the other has family health coverage?

That would require people get married and stay married. a foreign concept to many progressives, and sadly even a number of conservatives.

Heath coverage is a large component of benefits these days. We are looking at a 13% increase in January. Thanks for keeping it affordable Obama.

If you were actually in business and dealt with these type of issues, Blue's narrative makes a lot of sense.

Yeah, but if they were actually in business and dealt with these issues, they would be less likely to be progressives and more likely to be conservative or libertarian.

Because you are forcing me to take this job.......so the least you can do is pay for my health insurance....especially since you get to sit in your office and do nothing all day long while making millions of dollars while I have to be the one who is responsible for generating the revenue.

The could hire 3 more full timers and a gazillion part timers and expand their business, if this story is even true, and not have to provide their employees health care coverage.

I'm very surprised that an employer of 47 full time employees isn't already providing health care coverage.

Someone else will fill the void.

you cant successfully expand a business with all part timers. It is impossible. Dedication of employees does not become an asset unless they are full time.

You need to understand how to run and expand a business to successfully engage in a debate on this topic.

Employee dedication and loyalty is very important to a small business....if one employee is not dedicated, the quality of the work/product/service is only as good as that one "non dedicated" employee.

shaws Supermarket on the east coast really won't hire more fulltimers and mostly hires part timers now in order to save money.
the place i work for now, the only full time are the Manager and assistant manager.

So in reality you sort of can, expand on this set-up.

As for the Op, you should have been fired, you let your politics get in the way of your work. You should have said, I don't think it is wise to expand just yet. Lets see how Obamacare fleshes out and in 6 months if its all ok i would say go for it.
