LeVar Burton Wants You to Read Banned Books
Florida, the leading state, banned over 500 books. Florida’s governor is a huge proponent of that. This is massively concerning to the majority of Americans who do not support book bans.
Burton compares the banning of books to attempts to control women's bodies:
"This is part of a movement that we are battling for control over our minds and our bodies."
While liberals have been justifiably criticized for their efforts to alter classic works of fiction, conservatives seem to be pursuing a deeper and more pervasive effort to deny access to books they deem unacceptable.
But these same conservatives are the first to decry what they correctly describe as the war on conservative speech online, and the so-called "cancellation" of those who may have engaged in unpopular/unfashionable expression.
Why this disconnect?
Will the Constitution prevail, or are we on a steep slide into cultural darkness?
At no time have people who banned books been in the right.
But I like the responses from the world. Not just LeVar Burton, but others.
The artist Pink will be giving out banned books on her tour.
Taking them out of libraries effectively bans them for many kids.
I would prefer they send out a list of books in their library that they find objectionable, and then let the parents decide when their children read.

For those of you in favor of banning books, what about art books? You know, the beautiful books with pics of great works of art, like the statue of David or any of the numerous Greek and Roman statues that show more nudity than a Playboy.
What books were banned? Please...you seem fairly intelligent....tell us which books have been banned, as opposed to the child porn the mothers want kept away from their children's libraries.....and you can still get that child porn from amazon...so again, please tell us which books are banned?

The same can be said for a Playboy.I want them to see great works of art. If you look at the sculptures and see only nakedness, you are missed the point.

Not true. Yes, there are books that portray what you claim. But there are also books that do not.
Tolstoy's Anna Karenina was banned. That is a classic novel. A Sendak children's book was banned because if showed an illustration of a boy's butt as he was running up the street. Not exactly hardcore porn.
