Did we think that exercising patience and forbearance would inspire them to become better people?Freedom of speech is all about being free to say what you think or believe without consequence, as long as it is legal (no inciting, etc.). These days, people are getting persecuted, fired, or kicked off social media or whatever for saying things that ought to be permitted even if it goes against accepted dogma or policy. And you don't see the Right doing that nearly as much as the Left. Which is a little bit scary if you consider that controlling the narrative is among the early steps to a totalitarian gov't.
