36 trillion is a million dollars 36,000,000 times. A million dollars is more than most people earn or make in a lifetime.
Biden owes more than enough money for 1/10th the entire country to live on THEIR ENTIRE LIFE.
But since it is borrowed money we can't even afford to pay the interest on the debt, it becomes FAR MORE than that.
And much of that money is being used to secure good pensions for Zelenskyy and his friends.

We're not loaning Ukraine $50 billion of American Taxpayer Money, the money is being guaranteed via the proceeds (interest) on the $280 billion dollars in Russian Assets frozen by the EU.

The G7 is loaning the Ukrainians $50 billion guaranteed by RUSSIAN money. The EU has been doing this all along to fund arms supplies to the Ukrainians. The risk is if the EU doesn't vote to continue the freeze on these assets, which they are required to do every 6 months and requires unanimous consent from all 27 member nations, in which case the G7 will be left on the hook for the balance of the loan (outstanding balance - whatever interest is left on account).

Just on simple terms if we have given this one medium sized nation this much in resources over a few years, then it is too expensive to go to war. The Ukraine is like Chicago in the 1920's only its financial and banking shenanigans. It's like Star Trek's "A Piece of the Action". When some of our top politicians, elites, media and Hollywood showed up there when the conflict started that was a red flag. What made it worse is in the Star Trek Episode the Feds was the Federation in our case the people going over there is just as corrupted as the financial and banking shenanigans. All of the debt swishing around in the world with the corruption of money laundering involved and people getting enriched. And people die for this.

I don't know about "consolation", the whole financial sanctions regime that was imposed on those Russian assets put the confidence in the current International Financial System and the reliability of the U.S. dollar at risk, but at least they're not wasting more U.S. taxpayer dollars on this particular transaction.
