From Townhall.com:

A few days ago, a tweet from Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw caught my attention. He mentioned an effort by House Republicans to force a vote on a bill that would have ensured that federal employees at agencies shuttered by the partial government shutdown -- including furloughed workers -- would receive their first paychecks of 2019. This push was made in the form of a 'motion to recommit', one of the few legislative tools available to the lower chamber minority, and it was soundly defeated, despite half-a-dozen Democrats crossing the aisle to join the GOP. Crenshaw said this development had not been reported widely, and he was right.

Actually, the Dems have defeated this action 3 times, 6 Dems crossed over the 1st time, 10 the 2nd time, and 13 the 3rd time. Democrats' top talking point throughout this entire partial shutdown has been the plight of unpaid federal workers. Many are living paycheck to paycheck, they've explained, and are therefore struggling to make ends meet during this political standoff. House Republicans responded by seeking a narrow method to pay these people. Nancy Pelosi and her party have now twice defeated these attempts, calling them "political stunts." I wonder if the government employees would be as dismissive of bipartisan efforts to pay them. What's useful about this exercise is that it's clarifying: In spite of their protestations and theatrics, Democratic leadership's top priority is not helping these workers.

Talking Point, RIP: House Democrats Defeat THIRD Bipartisan Effort to Pay Federal Workers During the Shutdown

Let's review:

1. The Dems supported and voted for a border barrier back in 2006, in large numbers.

2. The wall plainly does work, as proved in places like Yuma, San Diego, and El Paso.

3. Dems have NEVER given a tinker's damn about spending money, and $5.7 bil is peanuts to them.

4. They don't give a damn about those furloughed workers or the ones working but not getting paid. This is all political, nothing more. And they don't care one bit who gets hurt as long as they win. Congrats, nice bunch of people you got there. I don't see where anyone at all on the Left has any moral ground to point fingers at anyone else.

You forget to mention the wall funding attached to that bill.

The big question is : Why would Cons float a bill that pays the workers for nothing when they could just end the shutdown and pay them to work?

In the art of the deal tRump is sucking hind tit on this. We do care and are raising money for them. Any conservatives doing that? Did not think so.

Spectacularly bad timing for a thread, based on the Dems just ending the shutdown.

That's a problem with right-wing propaganda, it never ages well.

WHINING WORKERS !

get a loan for 9% interest, add the payments in your monthly budget and suck it up.

There was no wall funding in that bill, you lie.

Why would Dems cause such hardships on those workers, over a wall that they themselves supported and voted for not long ago? THAT is the big question.

Dems haven't ended jack squat. Man, I gotta say that you guys sure do play fast and loose with the truth.

The President does care. That is why he made a deal to give Democrats 3 weeks to finally do the right thing, and call out Nancy Pelosi in the process

Just hours ago, the Trump cultists were praising DearLeader for standing firm. Now they're praising him for caving.

One of the benefits of being conservative is being so blessedly free from the curse of long-term memory.

We know that Cons don't give a shit.

Your just another Con deflecting from that one fact.

Republicans hate workers.
Bwaaaaahhhaaaaaa..That is why President Trump bought more jobs back to the US, while Hillary was going to keep moving more jobs to China.....Another stupid liberal(redundant statement I know) joins the fray..

It is interesting to see how the Dems clearly favor illegals over US citizens, including our workers by not trying to stem the flow of illegals coming into the country and working for less money. And here we have a clear case of the Dems deliberately denying paychecks for no other reason than party power politics. And the sad part is, they get away with it cuz the MSM doesn't report it.

If we want to be good conservatives, we have to start by first asking what the proper role of government is. And we have a very good guide in the Constitution. The Framers already asked the question. Then they had a revolution. Then they wrote a Constitution. What they decided was that the proper role of government was to protect liberty. Nothing else. This is, of course, clearly reflected in the document.

Anyone who supports these excessive, unconstitutional government agencies are no less statist as their theoretical Democrat counterparts. In fact, they're more statist in many ways.

There's very, very few conservatives left in America. Very few. The closest we'll get to a conservative in America today are the classical liberals. And I, for one, consider it an insult to have to accept an adjective for no other reason than to placate the ineptitude of todays modern electorate to what conservatism and liberalism actually mean.

Oh yeah? Link to the bill!

And you still didn’t answer my question on paying workers for nothing .

That's the new Republican party, offer to pay people for not working--LOL Nope this is all on Trump and he failed miserably. He caved on the WALL. He tried to use Federal Workers as pawns to extort billions of taxpayer dollars out of American pocket to pay for his stupid WALL, after promising that Mexico would pay for it.

TRUMP CAVED.
