Letitia James receives SUBPOENA from the DOJ for violating President Trumps' civil rights.

Trump set the precedent but didn’t follow it.

That doesn’t bother you.
You set the precedent. Remember when Biden was president and all those illegitimate investigations were going on against Trump? You didn't think that was going to come back to bite you in the ass? Now you're acting like a hypocrite, not the first time either.

What boggles the mind is your belief in that horseshit.

A New York jury on Thursday found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records — the first time a former U.S. president has been convicted of a crime.
What you SHOULD have highlighted was the two words before jury, Berg! It was a New York jury...it was a New York judge...it was a New York prosecutor! That "conviction" says more about the New York justice system than it does about Trump! The reason that conviction will eventually be thrown out on appeal is that it never would have been brought against almost any other person other than Donald Trump!

So you think if the person just shows up and says "nope, im not gonna talk", that they says "well geez, she isnt gonna talk, I guess this thing is over, let's all go home".

No, she can refuse to testify, but she just forfeits her ability to tell her side of the story.
No, thats for her attorney.. what happens when he calls Trump as a witness?

The DoJ cannot make any rule it wants to. Any rule they make has to have statutory authority.

Congress did not give the DoJ the authority to invent offices to fill with special prosecutors.
They didnt invent an office, the AG just appointed a special prosecutor

Justice Dept. Subpoenas Office of Letitia James, Who Sued Trump for Fraud

The Justice Department has opened an investigation into one of President Trump’s longtime adversaries, Attorney General Letitia James of New York, examining whether her office violated his civil rights in its successful fraud suit against him, according to three people with knowledge of the matter.

The acting U.S. attorney in Albany sent Ms. James’s office two subpoenas, one of which was related to the civil fraud case, which led to Mr. Trump being penalized more than half a billion dollars.

The second subpoena is related to the office’s long-running case against the National Rifle Association, the people said. Ms. James sued the organization in 2020, winning the ouster of its longtime leader, Wayne LaPierre, and sharply diminishing its power.

Two of the people familiar with the matter said that the new subpoenas were part of a broader investigation to determine whether the office violated Mr. Trump’s rights or those of others. It is a highly unusual use of a civil rights law more typically used to investigate potential racial, religious or sex discrimination, among other categories.

.........goes beyond the undeniable weaponization of the DoJ by trump and Bondi. The explanation also includes the unprecedented fact that the POTUS is a convicted criminal. At no time in our history has a prez had such a compliant AG willing to enable retribution against members of the justice system who sought to hold the prez accountable for his crimes.

James is far from the only one. There was another round of terminations among FBI officials yesterday.

More heads roll at FBI

The Trump administration has launched another purge at the FBI, forcing out three law enforcement veterans including a former head of the agency, according to two people familiar with the developments.

Former acting director Brian Driscoll, Assistant Director in Charge of the Washington Field Office Steven Jensen, and Washington-based Special Agent Walter Giardina were informed they are being fired, according to the two people, who were not authorized to discuss the matter. Formal paperwork is expected to be issued Friday.

Then there's Jack Smith.

About that Jack Smith investigation

JACK SMITH’s time has finally come.

The U.S. Office of Special Counsel last week launched an investigation into the man who brought two federal criminal cases against DONALD TRUMP in 2023.

But the investigation appears to be a thinly veiled political stunt aimed at placating the president, who has promised to seek retribution against the former Justice Department special counsel.

The probe focuses on whether Smith used his position as a federal government employee to engage in political activities in violation of the Hatch Act. It comes after Senate Intelligence Chair TOM COTTON (R-Ark.) requested that OSC investigate Smith for “unprecedented interference in the 2024 election.” The office, an independent agency in the executive branch, investigates whistleblower complaints and alleged violations of civil service laws. It is separate from DOJ special counsels who are appointed by the attorney general to handle politically sensitive cases.

The inquiry raises a number of questions, including: what conduct, if any, by Smith might be considered political; how the OSC could even punish him; and what Trump’s ultimate aim could be.

The conditioned response by trump's defenders is invariably to invoke specious whataboutisms. Making accusations about things Biden or Obama did wholly lacking supporting evidence. Essentially, a recitation of lies and fallacious right wing talking points that are gospel inside the parallel universe existing outside the realm of reality. The comfort they provide keeping trump fans from feeling the need to address the here and now. Perhaps because the here and now is indefensible.
The NY times and Politico should be sued for falsely reporting Trump was a Russian asset along with their promoting every false Democrat claim against Trump. They are unreliable places to get real journalistic reportage.

When did Congress establish a special prosecutor?
They didnt need to if its an inferior officer, the cotus says department heads can do this without senate confirmation.

Constitution says the office for the inferior officer has to be established by law.

…all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

Does the AG have to have Congressional approval for any investigation they do?
We have separation of powers in our Republic. The Executive, Legislature and Legal branches have to stay in their on lane. The AG can actually prosecute Congressional lawlessness.

When who calls Trump as a witness?

Stupe thinks that Letitia's lawyer is going to depose the POTUS to the witness stand. :lmao:

With Leftists around, who needs comedians?

As you can see in the constitution, the AG can appoint inferior officers without Senate confirmation, but only if those officers are established by law.

There is now law that establishes a special counsel.

Is there any doubt the Founders did not contemplate a prez with the DoJ at his complete disposal to seek revenge against those who would have seen him go to jail?

This must be every convicted criminal's dream. Having the power to command the might of the federal government to punish those who he sees as former threats and adversaries.
We saw that in the past years were SCOTUS, The Democrat party, the DOJ and the Congress were working together to take out Trump. Even after he left office, DOJ and the Democrats still mounted fake lawsuits like claiming Trump raped a woman over 30 years ago with 0 evidence. How about 34 counts against him for the 'crime' of telling a bank what he thought his property was worth? Even after the loan went through and the bank is satisfied. Biased prosecutors biased judges, AGs who received George Soros money and on and on and on. So don't sit there and try to tell US how holier than thou YOU are here.

With the way the Democrat/Biden regime broke and stretched the law to get Trump, he has every right to go after them...They tried a real coup and should be tried for treason. We avoided a Marxist takeover so far. Now they're going off the rails, shouting and screaming, lying and desperately trying to be relevant while badmouthing Trump and screaming about how great socialism is.

Nope. The AG is Senate confirmed.
I don't understand what your problem is with investigating James other than the fact that she's a Democrat. She certainly is a criminal and a vindictive asshole. After all she ran her campaign on Prosecuting Trump. Now she deserves to get a piece of her own medicine. What is your problem with it?

So they don't need Congressional approval for an investigation. Mariner is trying to disinform us.
