Everyone seems to have forgotten that puberty is accompanied by the body being flooded with hormones that don't just have a physical impact but a mental one as well.

When I wanted to get contact lens when I was young, I had to wait until I was at least 16 because of developmental changes that may not have completed yet.

At age 13 those developmental changes are just beginning, and I have read somewhere that males don't fully mature until they reach age 20 or a little later.

So, from a medical standpoint I don't know why anyone would think it's a good idea to let a child make an irreparable, life altering decision while they are in the midst of this hormonal flux.

Not to make light of the situation but how many times have you made a decision, not during the best time of the month, and immediately regretted it?

"Really? I just KNEW I'd look good in bangs, well at least they're grow out". No such luck as "at least they're grow out" with major transition surgery.
