I don't know how old you have to be to be labeled as 'old'. I guess 60 and beyond? But it depends on the person.
Elderly can still wish to live, but it is a fact that they use a lot of taxpayers money to care for them in their old age.
I am not saying they should die, I am just pointing out that one point.
My landlord's mother turned 100 last July. I'm nearly 60 yet she is the oldest person I've ever known. She fell recently and had hip surgery. She is walking now with a walker. She goes to the casino for fun because she can't see enough to read and can't knit or do really anything except hit a button.
I have no problem with her getting surgery for her hip. I applaud it and am glad she made a full recovery. She has a young woman's mind trapped in a old body.
But if there were the choice of someone 25 getting a kidney or her getting it, I would go with the person who is 25.
She also doesn't want her life extended using tubes and liquids and machines. She wants to go with "dignity". Many Republicans would take away her right and force her to live no matter what. They don't have respect for what is right or for anyone's rights. They want to take away a woman's right. The worst part is they will turn their backs on babies once they are born.
A lot of these issues are "common sense" issues. Common sense doesn't have to be cruel or cold. But Republicans are so rigid in their ideology, they would see people suffer tragically to enforce their Fascist right wing ideology no matter the suffering it causes. The last presidential run proved that. Shouting "let him die" at debates, and saying they wouldn't represent the 47%. Approving of "Ayn Rand". Republicans have become the enemy of "common sense" and if you disagree with them, they scream "death panels", even when it's Republicans like "Jan Brewer" who advocate "death panels".
