Living in Colorado - While marijuana is legal for recreational use and has brought in tax revenue, it hasn't stop illegal growing. Cops are regularly finding illegal grows. So, legal or not, there is criminal activity and dollars.

Alcohol is legal in most places here in the USA with the exception of dry counties, but that doesn't stop people from making moonshine illegally either.

Trump neither drinks nor uses drugs. I doubt that he would be supportive of any drug use at all. He would be more inclined not to interfere with what states decided to do.

I have never used pot or any drug. I do not drink. My observation is that pot is one of the more dangerous drugs out there. What makes it so dangerous is the perception that pot is harmless or even beneficial. I have seen pot simply destroy lives. I've seen people lose everything they have due to pot addiction. I have known people so convinced that pot is a cure all that they forego medical treatment for pot.

I live with two pot addicts right now. One let a career he worked his whole life for slide into a pot soaked haze. The other is a diagnosed schizophrenic who self medicates with pot and completely abandoned all other treatment. She has blackouts lasting from seconds to several days. It would be a mercy if during one of these blackouts she wandered onto the freeway or train tracks.

I have nothing positive to say about pot.

You know, over the weekend, CNN's Sanjay Gupta did a documentary on marijuana vs. pills, and guess what? Pills were shown to be far more dangerous than marijuana ever thought about being.

Not only that, but they also showed brain images of people who were on opiates, and there was very little activity, because opiates made the connections in the brain shut down.

A brain image on marijuana? Lots of activity. And, they showed a brain where a person had been taking opiates, got addicted, and then was treated with marijuana. Know what happened? The synapses started to create new pathways to replace the ones damaged by the opiates. So much for the argument that marijuana rots your brain, because it actually helps to rebuild damaged pathways.

He also talked about treating opiate addiction with marijuana, because when a person is coming off of opiates, they are jumpy, have joint and muscle pain, can't hold down food because of the nausea, and they have trouble falling asleep. Indica strains relieve pain, take away nausea, and calms a person down enough so that they can sleep. Fixes all the problems with opiate withdrawl. And, because marijuana is physically non addictive, when they want to stop treating with marijuana, they can simply stop. Recovery rates for opiate addicts is in the 6 to 10 percent success rate, slightly higher if they put them on methadone.

Treat an opiate addict with cannabis? The recovery rate jumps to over 60 percent.

He also said that while there have been stories circulated around the 'net about people overdosing on marijuana, it's physically impossible to do so, and no one has ever died from overdosing on cannabis.

Besides, if we used hemp, we could have biodegradable plastics, cloth, rope, and in some cases, food.

Actually, the last 8 years of my 20 years in the Navy, one of my collateral duties was that of a Drug and Alcohol Program Advisor. And, even with all the stuff the Navy taught me about marijuana, it was still obvious that marijuana was less physically harmful than alcohol ever thought about being.

Then, I retired from the Navy, and spent around 6 months doing as much research as I could concerning said plant. Because the Navy had already given me training in what they knew (or wanted known) about marijuana, I was able to use that as a springboard for my research. It also allowed me to separate the fact from the fiction. Too many people believe that Reefer Madness crap, and if you were trained in drug and alcohol addiction like I was, you would know that the behaviors exhibited in that movie are more indicative of alcohol or stimulant use, not marijuana.

And, over the past years, there have been PROVEN medical benefits. If Reagan had smoked a joint once in a while, maybe he could have held off the Alzheimer's for a few more years. Cannabis has also been proven to help with certain brain conditions like seizures.

But, if you want to continue believing the Reefer Madness crap, continue to do so, because it's apparent you won't let new information in. But, know that the 2 main reasons that marijuana was made illegal in the first place was because of a racist government agent named Anslinger who didn't like black or brown people (primary consumers of cannabis). He then went to Hurst, who had large timber holdings and made paper, and DuPont, who was just getting started with making plastics out of oil. Neither wanted the competition from hemp, so they bankrolled Anslinger, who then went to Hollyweird, and had the propaganda film Reefer Madness made.

If you support keeping marijuana illegal, then you support racism and greed as well.

You know, while I really don't like running out of smoke, it's not the end of the world if I run out.................I simply wait until I have the opportunity to buy some and do.

To tell you the truth, before CO legalized it, there was always a 3 week period towards the end of the year where it was scarce, and I'd generally run out around then. But, when it became available again, I simply called my guy and got some more.

Never had the shakes or felt like I "needed" to get high.
