Yeah, 'we' enslaved Blacks.
Can't you just see a bunch of fat, pink, pork-eating white boys running around in the tropics chasing the locals?
Or maybe we put up 'Slave Wanted" signs and were overwhelmed with applicants.
The truth isn't that hard to take.
There were wars between African Tribes then as there are now. There are wars everywhere, all the time.
The Portuguese armed one tribe over another and they had no way of paying for those arms so they gave the Portuguese their Prisoners and asked them to take them in payment.
Europe didn't want or need them because they still had the Manoral/feudal system in place. They enslaved their own people. Don't need no Africans, thank you.
They soon found a market for them. Mostly Brazil but they also sold them on the open market.
In the 17th Century there were far more Irish Slaves brought to this part of the world, this hemisphere, than there were African Slaves. And yes, they were slaves, not indentured servants. Slaves. Irish Slaves.
But that presented a problem because the Irish Slaves soon melted into the population and, even worse, much worse, they couldn't take the heat working in the Caribbean and, later, the American South.
Blacks were much hardier and they couldn't melt into the population. Not without being noticed.
Now, let's talking about reparations for the Sons and Daughters of the men that fought and died to free those Slaves.
How about it. I have direct family that fought and died in the Civil War. They're resting in a Church Cemetery in NW Pennsylvania.
I'll take 2 million, thank you.
