"Republicans are going after your Social Security!"

This lie has been told literally countless times and it has NEVER been true, but it is like the sun coming up every morning in the East, it is constant and predictable and never actually changes. They want old people (who vote in large numbers) to think that "the Republicans" are after their Social Security checks (actually, direct deposits, but that's just a detail).

Americans, who collectively got an 'F' in high school civics, don't ever seem to understand that the funding for SS does not come out of income taxes or general revenues. It has its own funding stream, and while Congress has raided the SS piggy bank/trust fund, it MUST replace that money, so it is NEVER in jeopardy. When there is a budget crisis it never has anything to do with SS, and changes to SS make no difference.

The linked article points out that DOGE is looking at the SS Administration, seeing a lot of administrative fat, and plans to cut staffing - or in corporate language, "right size" it - and the writer predicts, falsely, that this will inevitably lead to people not getting their monthly direct deposits.

Apparently, the writer believes that the SS Administration, alone among the Federal government's various departments and agencies, is so tightly staffed and so efficient that even a microscopic downsizing will impact its work product.

It is a blatant, intentional lie.

Like many others that Democrats constantly repeat.

That takes actual investigation and study of what is needed and what is not. It takes subject matter experts and interviews with management and employees

DOGE is indiscriminately making cuts and claim whatever they cut is “waste”
They can’t claim any realistic investigation in just six weeks

DOGE may have smart people in their cadre, but they do not have experience in the departments they are examining and have made mistakes.
When will DODGE go after the White House budget and trim the fat there?

Gee, who was it who raided the SS piggy bank again? We had a surplus in Social Security in 2000, and Clinton wanted to put it in a lock box, but George W. Stupid decided to give tax cuts to rich people and put a war on a credit card.

The problem with keeping two sets of books like this is that you have fuckwits wanting to reduce payouts to decrease the amount that has to be gotten back from General Fund to pay off vouchers. So when Gauleiter Musk talks about imaginary 150-year-olds collecting checks, you betcha they are going to try to make it more of a pain in the ass to get that money Nana has been paying in all her life.

So, when was the last time SS failed to pay-out.

I'll help, that would be never.

But yeah, if someone stole Nana's data and they are getting a check after Nana kicks the bucket then I damn sure want that stopped.

The US federal government is the largest criminal organization in human history

All we need is to create an all-powerful law and enforcement they don't control to bring them to justice.

And when they become corrupt, we will create another all-powerful law enforcement agency to bring them to justice as well.
'
Wash, rinse, repeat.

Easy peasy.

Social Security has run a "surplus" since its inception, but the extra money was loaned to the general fund every year, to be replaced with IOU's from the US government.

Now that SS is approaching no surpluses, that money has to be paid back, from the general fund.

So another drain on the annual budgets that MUST be paid back. First Interest on the actual debt, and now paying back those IOUS.

DOGE is hiring young analysts with no relevant experience.
It is waste because they say it is.

They have no interest in efficiency, only carnage

DGS49 is the liar.

GOP wants SS, Medicare, Medicaid, and SS.

All they have to do is uncap taxation on SS and cut 20% of DOD.

We have the most honest government in the world

If you believe otherwise, show the criminal prosecutions
Idiot, the lack of criminal prosecutions in the Federal government compared to the rest of society should give you pause.

But no.

There is no police to police the police.

SS isn't taxation, it's supposedly an investment. That's why there is a cap on both deductions AND payouts.

Do you want to remove the cap on benefits as well?

There are plenty of watchdogs and independent agencies to keep track of government fraud and abuse. People talk. We also have a free press monitoring the excesses of government

Ask Sen Menendez what happens when you engage in graft

SS is an elder income retirement tax, nothing more nothing less, an elder insurance.

Uncap the taxation limits.

The man had to get payment in gold fucking bars to be caught and prosecuted.

Those in Congress make a working man's wage and Leftists like Rightwinger never wonders why they retire with a gazillion mansions and lives like Bill Gates but on paper are only worth a buck 50.

Hilarious.

Last in, first out has been a management technique forever. Whoever is telling you the cuts are"indiscriminate" is lying to you
