Personally, I love my experience with SS. I applied for SSDI and early retirement when I turned 62 as I could no longer work for health reasons. They rightfully turned me down on the SSDI because I wasn't eligible, but two years later, without any prompting from me, they reviewed my record, found out I was now eligible, approved my SSDI and sent me back pay of over $10K, then raised my check to the SSDI level that it was supposed to be. When I became Medicare eligible, they enrolled me ahead of time and told me I could decline it if I wanted to. My Medicare started last week. Again, I love my SS!

Try earlier. The change in 1994 just exposed the accounting trick the government used to not show SS as part of the budget. That was all. The government has used surpluses in SS to pay government expenses forever.

They are not receiving benefits and Musk continues to imply they are.
