The policy of not negotiating with terrorists is a new one, it started under Jr's administration. Prior to then, presidents like Reagan negotiated with terrorists. Ever heard of Iran Contra?
And...................interestingly enough, Bergdahl's father is a Republican, but after the way those of his party have lambasted him, I'd be surprised if he remained one.
As far as Berghdal leaving his post? Well, that may be true, but we don't know the circumstances because all we have are the words of those who were over there with him, yet the chain of command never brought him up on charges, and they're still investigating it.
Why can't you people who have never served just shut up and wait to see what the facts are?
I served 22 yrs. Bergdhal left his post in a combat area. The taliban did not come and kidnap him. He is a deserter.
If that is the truth, then why did the Army advance him in rank during the time he was gone?
I was a Personnelman in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years, and when someone goes over the hill, they are NOT advanced during the time they are gone, even if it's for years.
Berghdal was advanced while he was being held. Don't you think that if the Army had proof that he'd gone AWOL or deserted, they would have kept him at the rank he was when he left instead of advancing him in absentia?
Like I said.................people should just keep quiet about what he may or may not have done until the Army completes their investigation and releases the findings.
Then, after we have concrete proof verified by the Army that he deserted, you can draw and quarter him.
