Leave Berghdals parents alone!!!!!

Bergdhal walked away from his post, period. There are no excuses for that, none. He is guilty of desertion, period. I dont care if they say he had PTSD, he walked away from his post. He is guilty of desertion during wartime.

Yabut, there's that pesky guarantee of due process. Sorry, but you're gonna have to wait to pronounce him guilty and hang him.

He should have already been tried for desertion.

If that is the truth, then why is it that he not only was advanced 2 times, but the military is going to pay him for the time he was gone?

Sorry..............but the Army investigated the circumstances under which he left, and decided he was okay to be a POW way back when.

Until the military says that he deserted, or even went AWOL, he's still a POW (and the only one in this war), and he still deserves our respect.

Even if you only talk to him and thank him in the airport.

Actually his back pay has been put on hold, and a full investigation is to start this week, headed Up by a Major General.

Hopefully we'll see.

His dad needs to shut-up and go away. he told his son"Follow your conscience." He did. Went out and joined the enemy.

Yanno......................I'm wondering what the problem is. I mean Berghdals parents did what any other parent would do.

He grew a beard. He only did it to try to show solidarity with the captors of his son. Who among you would not do so to try to save your child?

He learned their language. Sorry, but trying to speak the language of those who have your child is important, because if you are trying to negotiate, or ask for the return of your child, you should try to speak their language. It helps if you can speak a common language.

Would you leave your son or daughter in a foreign land?

Leave the parents alone, they don't deserve the death threats they've been receiving.

I agree,Bergdahl's family gets a pass because what would you expect them to do? It's their kid. They don't have to like what he did but that doesn't mean they should leave him completely. I find the public response of death threats very disturbing. Court-martial him and give him a dishonorable discharge and time served. I'm sure by now Bergdahl regrets his actions. I do think the government should keep an eye on him just incase he has Stockholm syndrome.

That's just stupid.

Only an idiot would stick up for their criminal child.

I havent threatened them before I have no intention of threatening them.

And no, it's not natural to immerse yourself in the culture of those who capture your child. Most parents will want nothing to do with such an evil group of people.

They MUST pay him unless and until he is discharged or convicted. Hell, Major Hassan is still getting paid!

I can't find that report now but a new investigation has started An Army Major General is in charge of the investigation.

Actually, there wasn't that much "immersion". All his father did was start growing his beard, vowing to not shave until his son is returned (and he has since shaved), and learned the native language of his captors so that he could ask for his child back in their language so that there was no confusion as to what he said.

Shit...............I used phrase books and ALWAYS tried to speak the native language of whatever country I was in during deployment. Not only was it kinda fun to see if I could do it, but I got a hell of a lot further than my shipmates did who only asked if the people spoke English. Does that mean I've gone native?

Additionally, when a friend of mine by the name of Henry had to undergo chemo, myself and a bunch of my friends all shaved our heads and vowed to keep them shaved until Henry got better or died (he was stage 4). Does that make myself and my friends a gang of skinheads?

Bergdahl's father didn't do anything wrong, he just wanted his son back.

Incidentally..................did you know that Bergdahl's father is a Republican? After the way most of those on the right have treated him, if I was him I'd drop my party affiliation.

Once again it was reported that his back pay was placed on hold......

Which means there is an investigation and those outside of the Army in charge of his case should reserve judgment until AFTER the Army discloses it's findings.

There's a difference between sticking up for his actions and supporting him while he takes the heat for his mistakes. Certainly leaving him with those barbarians is out of the question. Of course they should fight to have him returned. The trade however was out of proportion but that's Obama's fault. The Parents are thinking with their hearts, the government should be thinking with their heads. Obviously Obama left his brain in bed sleeping that day. Trading five Taliban for one solider is just dumb.
