not to disagree, but "always" never works with the former Russian/Soviet/Russian again territory.
Personally, the only existential interest to the US that I ever saw was the Putin stupidly gave us a way to kill his military without using US bodies. Cheney and the rest just wanted Ukraine's resources. My question is why isn't Zelensky begging Trump to claim the minerals.

Sorta. Trump is not going to take any action simply because it further's US interests or policy. NOW any action requires both a concrete and immediate benefit to both the US and Trump personally.

Here are the last few budgets from 2018-2025.
Notice that the "deficit" or money to be borrowed is about $2T.
The House's 2025 proposed budget is $6.1T (down from Biden's $7.3T)
Look at the interest on the debt graph below and it is obvious that we need to stop borrowing.
A $6.1T budget with $1.1T in interest only leaves $5T to spend, with revenue at about $4.5T
So if DOGE can cut about $0.50T the budget can balance, a first since Newt Gingrich did it.
Biden’s 2025 Budget is $7.30T with a $1.8T deficit______TOTAL BIDEN $8.3T (actual per clock)
Biden’s 2024 Budget was $7.30T with a $2.0T deficit
Biden's 2023 Budget was $6.13T with a $1.7T deficit
