Putin won't hold to any peace agreement.
But what will happen while Trump is in office. If Putin wants to change the deal and go from 90% to 95%, Trump would just give another 5% to Putin.

If Ukraine wants to join NATO, in order to put teeth behind the peace deal, if Putin doesn't want them in NATO, then Trump will veto it.

This is why Putin didn't need to use force while Trump was in office.

Ukraine will not join NATO. That wasn't ever going to happen.
