Stock is issued to investors, those are people who loan the company money to help make money, but they expect a return for that investment ...

Now basic business 101 says the more you pay out to workers the less profits you have. Those profits are what get divided up, operating cost, loan repayments, payroll, dividends, yada, yada .....

So as you pay the worker more, the profit margin falls and thus the stock dividends ...
Now a wise investor who sees their dividends evaporating look for other companies with better dividends...
Keeping labor cost low is simply smart business management whether it be a multi million dollar corporation or a small mom and pops store with a low profit margin.

I know your next ignorant bite off this poisonous apple will be about the CEO's wages. Look the people that can successfully operate those companies have mad skills, not your average American. They are intelligent, most are well bred / well educated who see the world differently than most, that is why they get paid what they do...

Not just anybody can be that successful fortune 500 CEO who has the Midas touch, they are usually worth every penny they get paid.
