Large insurance corporations get filthy rich off Obamacare. It has tripled their revenue.

I hate to get technical, but REVENUE is not really relevant. The issue in corporate America is PROFIT.

I believe that heath insurers are cashing in as never before, but to focus on revenue is, from an accounting standpoint, stupid and misleading.

It is time to create an American version of socialized medicine, but a Constitutional Amendment is required to do it, and it appears that no leading Congress-person has the courage to say that, or to even craft the necessary Amendment.

Congress currently has no Article I power to get into the health insurance business, except w/r/t the Armed Forces and Veterans. Sorry.

"Like I care about the little people!"

one Social Security number was used to receive 125 insurance policies covering 26,000 days — the equivalent of 71 years of coverage.

In the 2024 plan year, the GAO sent in four fake applicants, and all were approved without “documentation to support Social Security numbers (SSN), citizenship, and reported income,” the report said.

Twenty fake applications were filed in plan year 2025; 18 “remain actively covered as of September 2025,” the GAO wrote.

Revenue and profits go hand in hand.

Barrycare made Evil Big Insurance filthy rich.

AI Overview

Yes, major U.S. health insurance companies have seen soaring profits since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was implemented, driven largely by significant government subsidies (Medicaid expansion, premium tax credits) and higher enrollment, leading to massive revenue and stock value increases, though this coincides with rising premiums for many consumers
. Large insurers like UnitedHealth, Centene, and Molina have reported huge profit surges, benefiting from the law's structure that funnels substantial federal funds through them.
Key Drivers of Increased Profits:
  • Government Subsidies: Medicaid expansion and ACA premium tax credits send billions of dollars directly to insurers, making up a large portion of their revenue.
  • Increased Enrollment: The ACA mandates and subsidies led to millions more Americans getting insured, expanding the customer base for insurers.
  • Premium Increases: Insurers have significantly raised premiums, especially in the ACA marketplaces, with many increases covered by subsidies, boosting their bottom line.
  • Reduced Costs (Sometimes): While initially facing challenges, changes in medical loss ratios (MLRs) and careful management have allowed profits, with some reports indicating lower MLRs during the pandemic.
Evidence of Soaring Profits:
  • UnitedHealth: Saw nearly 400% profit growth and immense revenue increases after the ACA's rollout.
  • Molina & Centene: Experienced over 1,000% and 425% stock price increases, respectively, due to Medicaid expansion.
  • Overall Industry: Health insurer stock prices surged over 1,000% from 2010 to 2024, according to the Paragon Health Institute.
In essence, the ACA, despite its goals, created a highly profitable environment for major health insurers through a blend of government funding, expanded markets, and strategic premium setting.

The Number One advertiser on TV is Big Pharma.
It's not coincidence.
Why do they constantly advertise products that require a prescription to get anyway?
Well, part of it is that the networks know who butters their bread and their news divisions look the other way at drug side effects, profits, the whole ugly mess. They've been bought and paid for by Big Pharma.
RFK, Jr. has talked about banning Big Pharma ads. I hope it happens. Every other country save one has already done that.

When you dipshits hear about Medicare advantage, you’re really going to be pissed

Yes.

And it is amazing the left wing communists will not even agree that Pharma should not advertise on TV.

They hate the USA, but they refuse to admit EVERY OTHER NATION ON EARTH BUT FOR THE US AND NEW ZEALAND HAVE THAT CORRECT.

Pharma advertising is bribing networks for favorable coverage.

A link to you being stupid?

Easy.

Go swing a dead cat, Trollwinger. :auiqs.jpg:
You do not think Pharma and Insurance companies manipulate public policy for profit?

This was intended for RW, not Nostra

Is there anything more disgusting than making money off of people’s misery?

Large Insurance Companies making huge profits?

Shows why we need single payer

Yes, then you won't need to worry about insurance since there's a higher chance you'll die before getting treated.

There are many ways to fix our health care system and more government isn't the solution.

Singapore here we come! Sentosa Island. $250K boondoggle. Small amount but it adds up. During shutdown?

Internal FDA records obtained by CNBC show 31 agency staffers traveled to Singapore in mid-November for a conference of the International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use, or ICH — a trip that cost more than a quarter of a million dollars, or upward of $8,000 per person, according to the documents. The travel was approved when the agency was operating with reduced staffing and limited resources in part due to the shutdown.

So Medicare is unconstitutional?

Nice fear mongering
But most of the industrialized world has single payer and have a healthier population and live longer.

They also don’t have to worry about bills in the tens of thousands that they can’t pay

I like the idea of universal care, but you aren't ever gonna be able to afford it by coming at it from the insurer side. You have to come at the provider and supplier side.

Untrue. Most of the world has universal healthcare. Only a few countries have single-payer. It's the least expensive form, but also has terrible problems with de-facto rationing of services.

They also don’t have to worry about bills in the tens of thousands that they can’t pay
Which is good, because they don't have any money either - having paid it in taxes to fund the healthcare system.
