Lake Erie Today

Okay, I get you now. So do you believe the warming is natural or man made?

It is the same issue since the Younger Dryas.

The planet has warmed multiple times since the Younger Dryas past what it is today, and for some reason we keep getting slammed back to Glacial temperatures. I believe it is completely natural, but the hype is completely man made because of how they both present the data, cherry pick the data, and try to pretend the facts are not real.

Ever notice that they all start their clocks of what temperatures "should be" in the freaking Little Ice Age? They literally try to pretend the "normal temperatures" are right smack dead in the middle of the coldest period in over 2,000 years. That literally is like sticking the thermostat of your house inside your refrigerator (or inside your garage). And even more disturbing, that whenever there has been a cold event in the past 5,000 years they treat it as completely natural. And if there was ever a warming event they scream it was either not real or "regional".

The warming is natural, everything based in geology and evolution and many other sciences proves it is natural. Our planet wants to be hotter, it's normally much hotter than now. Yet you have a cadre that demands that things never change, and want everything to be tomorrow exactly as it is today.

However, based on the geological record, at this point we should be cooling by now. Temperatures should have continued to increase some 13kya, and not stopped rising until hitting roughly 10C or more past those we see today. And remained at those temperatures for a few thousand years before cooling again. But this time, that did not happen.

But here is the thing that causes me to shake my head at them. Bring up actual scientific facts (like almost all plants past grass in Western North America are pyrophytes), and you see them respond with their fingers in their ears and shaking their head. Or that of course the megafauna almost all went extinct, gigantic sizes are a cold weather adaptation and evolution favors smaller animals in hotter climates, and you get the same response.

People who claim to love science suddenly becoming complete morons and denying science because it goes against their beliefs that humans cause everything bad. Even screaming "fire is bad" over entire continents where the freaking plants evolved to require fire in order to reproduce.

Whenever some retard tries to scream that "global warming" is causing fires in places like California or Australia, I want to smack them in the head with a eucalyptus trunk. Pretty much all of the plants in those areas (as well as Southern Europe) have a rather unique evolutionary adaptation. Not only to better survive fires, but many of them actually demand fires in order to reproduce. Many are now starting to believe they might have actually "evolved to burn" in order to help propagate even faster.

These are adaptations that took millions of years to evolve, and very specific conditions where fire in those areas were extremely common. And are not found in adaptations of plants saw in Northern Europe, most of Asia, or Eastern North America. They certainly are not found in Africa or South America (outside of plants that migrated there from other areas).

Yet here we have anti-science religious zealots screaming we are making the fires worse. Meanwhile, I laugh because my oldest son is a Fireman. As in, he goes out every year and sets fires. Primarily in California, because decades ago some actually realized that the lack of fire was endangering a lot of plant species. By putting them out so fast, no new trees were growing (and those that were did not belong in that area).

I bet if you sent a lot of them back about 15,000 years ago, they would start screaming at each other.

Those in Europe would demand that all the warming going on and melting be stopped, so they could somehow magically preserve Doggerland.

And those in Western North America would be screaming it needs to melt faster so they can get their San Francisco Bay back.

I really do see most of them as religious loons. They believe in some mythical "static Earth", where absolutely nothing ever changes ever. The same kind that both claim to support Evolution, and at the exact same time deny it.

Bring up to them the obvious fact that eventually humans will become extinct, and they will deny it as hard as possible because it goes against everything they believe in. Or that in the very near future cities like Portland and Seattle will be wiped off the planet and most of the United States will be slammed in an event that will send it straight to being worse off than most third world countries, and they scream you are lying.

But all of those I just stated are facts. And all of them will happen in the very near future.

Geologically speaking.

Or that in a somewhat distant but still very real future most of the life on the planet will die off.

They simply can not grasp that the planet does not give a frack what they believe or want. Eventually North and South America will separate, and temperatures fairly quickly will shoot up to around 10c higher than they are now. And when the Atlantic closes and the continents get closer to Pangea Ultima (or Pangea Proxima depending on who you ask) most of life as we know it beyond some insects will die off in most of Africa and North America.

Oh, and forget measuring ice in Antarctica. That will be around the latitude of Africa. Tucked in between South America and Australia because Africa will just be sitting where Asia and Europe meet now.

That is the "world that I live in". One that is dynamic and always changing. They live in a world where everything as it is now is in their mind how it should be, and it should never change. And if you ever get them to answer you when you challenge them with that, they just repeat the same old thing. "We believe in change, but this is different because it is caused by humans!"

Oh, and of course they also scream that "CO2 causes warming", when all of the science points to the exact opposite. That Warming pushes up CO2. That is why all of their charts have that stupid "hockey stick" in them. The reality does not match their data, so they change the data. And into such a tiny window when compared to the lengths of time that it scares people on purpose. The problem is that many like myself have been studying periods of time covering hundreds of thousands of years at a minimum (and quite often tens of millions of years or more), and are even old enough when they exact same people were screaming the exact same things, but with humans causing the opposite results.

"Climate" in a period of time over years, decades, or even hundreds of years is absolutely and completely 100% insignificant. Especially when looked at in cycles that at a minimum cover spans of time 40,000 years long or more. That is like living in LA where your winds normally come from the ocean, and suddenly panicking when they come from the East instead of the West.

Which does happen, locals call it the Santa Ana Winds. Just like they always try to get people to believe humans are the cause of the El Niño - La Niña weather patterns. Too bad Spanish records almost 500 years old show clear proof of that cycle, and that geological proof shows it has gone on for over 15,000 years.

Oh, and that higher temperatures cause drought. Higher temperatures increase rainfall, they do not lower it. Once again, Spanish records from 500 years ago prove that California gets more rain today than it did then. They really are the epitome of anti-science.
