Kristi Noem? Why not Ron DeSantis or Greg Abbott for Sec of Homeland Security?

I like Kristi Noem a lot but I don’t see her as an aggressive enough personality for this gig.
DeSantis and Abbott both have lots of border experience, they have both proven they will pull out all the stops to secure the border, plus they both make leftist heads explode to maximum degree.
IMO…DeSantis would have been the best choice, plus it would have tee’d things up for him in a 2028 run for POTUS.

Frankly not everybody wanted that job. I am surprised Kristi noem wants it. She is one hell of an excellent Governor. DeSantis can handle any job. But he also is one hell of a great governor.

That is true but South Dakota is so solidly red there is little danger of losing its 3 electoral college votes. And Larry Rhoden, Lt Governor there will certainly push the MAGA vision as much as Kristi has. He was the likely new Governor when her term ends in 2026 and she was not eligible for re-election. She will be leaving SD in good shape and in good hands. Florida and Texas are far more critical to the success of the MAGA movement and far more vulnerable to being overtaken by anti-MAGA forces.

We need DeSantis and Abbott where they are right now. The Democrat governors are joining forces to oppose Trump in any way they can. Currently GOP Governors outnumber the Democrat governors I think 27 to 23 the last time I looked. Trump needs all the strong support he can get there as much as he does in his cabinet and the federal government.

If Kristi isn't up to the job Trump is giving her, she will be replaced. But I feel pretty good that she is tough enough and will do that job well as she has done everything else. Instincts, vision, understanding of the situation, ability to visualize solutions to problems are far more valuable in such positions than is experience. And as all good leaders do, she will solicit sound advise and learn what she doesn't already know.

Kristi is an example of a very smart, very experienced, very able woman at any job she gets. I hope in the future she is president.

Dan Patrick, Lt governor in TX is a very capable of filling Abbott’s seat…I’m not real sure about Jeanette Nunez backing up DeSantis in FL…Maybe that had something to do with the pick?

Abbott is very well-liked in Texas and his work on the border is awesome. We need him.
