Kings are not the problem in America, hypocrisy is.

I went to the gym this morning and overheard a conversation between what I assume are two fellow Baby Boomers. It was the day after the big “No Kings” protest march in the city. They were males and one was saying to the other that once he thought people should be personally responsible for themselves but now he realizes that some people need help. I do not discuss politics in the gym, so I was silent and went about my business. But I wonder if either of these sundown liberal thinkers would be willing to liquidate all their assets, homes, vehicles, pensions, etc., convert them into cash, and donate the money to the government. There is so much corruption in Washington that political and cultural insanity is limited only by the imaginations of corrupt politicians. I wonder if they realize that the huge amount of money taken from hard working citizens ends up cutting off the testicles of males and encouraging them to compete in female sports.

These postmodern liberal Boomers are not going to give up anything because they believe what theirs is theirs. If they were to give up those things, maybe I could consider their point of view regarding government. But foisting bad government on others from a safe vantage point is what liberalism and wokeness are all about. It is hypocrisy in action.

That is why Trump is in the White House. It has nothing to do with kings.

So how do you get better government?
I believe it would start with non-partisan primaries. Taking a look at the total votes that took place in a presidential election and then look at the total number of votes each major party candidate got in the primaries, it is amazing how such a relatively small percentage of citizens determine who are candidates are. There is nothing in the Constitution about political parties. But the (D) and (R) have gone about institutionalizing them to protect their turf.

You ferget that yer non-King has mentioned how he is King.

I love how MAGA is now blaming the Boomers and not the WEALTHY who got all of tax cuts for the last 45 years.

You people can be convinced of ANY STUPID NOTION, including the idea that large numbers of young men are cutting off their dicks.

Trump is in the White House because Americans like you are gullible and stupid.

The problem here is that money rules. The money people would still be getting their people in.

Primaries themselves are weird.

I KNOW that Proportional Representation would make for a much better system.

Right now we see a right-wing government trying to take money from the poor and middle classes and redistribute it t the very rich. There is no encouraging men to cut off their testicles and encouraging them t compete in any sport. Trump is in the white house despite authorizing sex change operations in prisons in 2018, because stupid people such as yourself voted for racism and decided you will believe anything that comes out of his mouth without questioning

I could go for that.

I also think it's time to move to a parliamentary form of government where you vote fr a party platform and if a party doesn't get 50 percent, they must form a coalition government with the other parties. This could increase 3rd and 4th parties candidates, and we could avoid what we see right now. Because we are seeing a president who got 32 percent of the vote running roughshod over the country.

Stop electing dems

Every time you don't elect a Democrat in the White House, you get an economic crash. That's not "better government".

So how do you get better government?

Overturn Citizens United and get the dark money out of politics. End Super PACs. Strictly limit where the money comes from.

Shorten the election season so pols spend more time legislating and less time campaigning. No campaigns, rallies, ads or fundraising until 6 months prior to the election.

Unfortunately the liberal boomers and other liberals mostly consider what's theirs is theirs but what belongs to the rest of us is actually via permission/generosity of the state. They believe the state actually owns and controls all the wealth except that held by the liberals of course.

They want complete freedom to think, live, choose as they want. They want the state to decide that for all of us who aren't them.

Yes. I see blatant hypocrisy.

Hardly, we just had a dem in the White House and he made the majority of Americans worse off

Trump didn’t even get 32% of the voters. He got 25% of the registered voters n the USA. More people stayed home than voted for either candidate. A lot more.

I’m a fan of minority governments as well. Some of our most productive governments in history have been minority governments. More compromise, and consensus is needed to obtain the votes to pass, so all sides are included.

Lester Pearson’s Canada Health Act is an example of impactful legislation passed by a minority government. Pearson is widely considered to be one of the best Prime Minister’s in Canadian history, even though he never held a majority in the House.

To me the best part of a parliamentary government is that it will fall on a motion of non-confidence if the government loses the confidence of the voters. In practice, that seldom happens when the ruling party has a majority in the House.

He didn’t make the majority of Americans nearly as bad off as Donald Trump. Donald Trump left the nation sick, broke and unemployed.

There is genuine economic data to back this up. Links here have been posted to the job creation and the economic record of Trump’s first administration.

So how do you do that?

The German federal election cost less than one US Senate seat. Why? Because PR the votes matter. With FPTP it's about money, you can manipulate just a few people to change their mind, you get such a different result. You can't do that with PR.

Also, you take money out of politics, they'll still spend that money on politics, they'll just claim it's not.

We had a system whereby the taxpayers funded the elections and the parties got money based on their number of votes. Lobbying was banned. The Conservatives cancelled it the moment they got into office.
