King Crab Colossal size.

Welp just ordered 6 lbs from Alaska.
They weigh in at 1lb per leg. Looked at several options but none were the Colossal size and weighed in at around 5/8 to 3/4 a lb so I paid a bit more for the 1lb legs.
Ended up being $594 for the 1lbers but in doing so I got free shipping. Figured I'd rather spend more on Crab legs than on shipping.
They ship tomorrow and will be here on Friday.
I'm gonna hate seeing em in the fridge and having to wait till Saturday to eat em.
I'm sure I'll wake up on Sunday with a disturbed stomach from all the butter but fuck it it's worth it.
I'm hoping the Wife gets full on two legs leaving me with four....:eusa_drool:

$99 a pound? Damn!

You better post pics!! I love Alaska King Crab but I don't think I ever got 1 pound legs! :eek2yum:

God I love crab. Those legs are MASSIVE though.

You are making me very hungry.

I'll never forget the first time I had them.
I was around 25 and when they came out from the kitchen I couldnt believe what I was seeing.
They looked fake they were so big!!
It was all over once I tasted them,it's been my favorite ever since.

Pshaw. That is just one crab! When those crabs get that large, they can often be tough, chewy and mealy---- please send me one leg to test first to be sure you didn't get ripped off! :SMILEW~130:

I'll be sure and ship any leftovers by UPS.
You should get them in a week or so.

Unless I could resell them I'd not pay a nickel for them.....I despise crab meat of any type.

There used to be a place in my AO called Chesapeake Bay Seafood House.....It was a all you could eat place and everyone in the whole place wanted (and waited) for the King Crab legs.

Not me, the whole time I was filling up on blackened catfish and frog legs while they waited. ;)

I dont do the all you can eat buffets. When the Wife and I first met we went to a all you can eat seafood buffet on Westheimer here in Houston.
It was very popular and the price of admission was $40 bucks a head. This was back in the late 80's so it wasn't chump change.
When we showed up there was an obese guy eating like he was starving, when we left a couple hours later he hadnt slowed down one bit.
That soured me on all you can eat buffets.
When I want to eat like a pig I'll buy my own stuff and make it at home. Frog Legs being a prime example as are king crab legs.
The idea of having to post up on the buffet line for the good stuff is demeaning if you ask me.

We have some places here you can get king crab but they are never even close to that size.

My problem is I can eat 10 pounds of crab alone. Way to expensive :D

I hear ya.
I can easily eat 20 lbs of crawfish of course there's a lot more shell involved with crawfish.
The Wife asked me if I wanted a side....I of course told Her if that meant She'd only eat two lbs I'd be good with that. :auiqs.jpg:
Go ahead and leave me four lbs of crab legs.

This place was a served at the table type of place, not a buffet. You paid by category with the crab legs being the most expensive but if you got those then everything below them could also be ordered for the same money. If memory serves frog legs were tier two in price.

It was also back in the late 70s - 80s before there was even such a thing as a "hog trough" buffet in my AO. About the only thing they had back then where you served yourself was a salad bar at the Ponderosa and a pizza/salad buffet at Pizza Hut at lunch time.

LOL....People reminded me of dogs following the waitress with their eyes to see if someone got their crab legs before they did.

I don't do "hog troughs" to any great extent either. Maybe once/twice a year when I take my mom down to UVA for her appointment. A place called the Wood Grill Buffet she likes. It's OK for what it is but about the only thing that stands out is their fried chicken.

We have an all you can eat joint that does king crab here and I will go there on occasion. I just cant pass up the crab though it is not the best at a place like that. They do a pretty damn good job for a buffet though. Likely because it is in a casino, the restaurant is more for getting people in the door than actually making money.
