Well yeah, the Upper Chamber of the UK Paraliment is the House of Lords...so it's members are called Lords.

That's because you don't live there and have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. To them it's a title. We have mayor, judge, president, sir, misses, etc and lord to them is no different.

Yeah I understand the political nomenclature of American elected officials but I am vaguely insulted at the notion that english speaking people still address their fellow citizens as "lords".
