We just had one more school shooting today, pro gun anti idiot, yes a safety lock would be one inexpensive simple solution to help the problem, but we have the cant give an inch mentality. all this political hate & confusion must be hard on children who are still in the process of developing there minds.

A safety lock would not prevent a school shooting, all the shooter would have to do would be to remove the safety lock and do the shooting.

Again....no it would not have saved him. You can already buy a safety lock.....you can already buy a gun safe.......the parent didn't do either one, or if he had them, he didn't use them......how do you physically make the owner use the safety lock? Care to explain that?

The problem we have is that we have Anti-Gun peoples who do not know anything about guns, if they did they would already know that a safety lock is about the gun owner putting the lock on and making sure it stays on when it's not going to be in use. Again a safety lock like a gun itself is an inanimate object that requires a human to operate, the safety lock doesn't put itself on and keep itself on.

How would anyone prevent someone with a knife from going into a school and stabbing to death multiple peoples? Considering in the majority of stores you can buy some very sharp kitchen knives and they are not locked away they are on full display in the Kitchen products sections.

If the kid wanted to kill more people, he could have just rented a truck and run them down as the left school for the day....just like in Nice, France.....where 86 people were murdered in 5 minutes...more than any mass shooting

Well one of the Islamists attempted that recently in New York but they were prevented from mowing peoples down with the vehicle because a New York police woman shot them with her gun.

In ALL these school shootings if the teachers were armed they could prevent so many peoples from being killed, as soon as the shooter started just ONE teacher armed could take him down and prevent a massacre.

If you read about the majority of mass shootings in America, schools, the cinema shooting several years ago in was it Colorado, the night club shooting in Florida, the shooting in San Bernadino etc all of them occur in those Gun Free Zones, they never target situations where peoples are going also to be armed.

And that would not prevent children from by accident being shot, it would still have to be put on by the parents and after each use of the gun - shooting range or hunting or whatever - they would have to remember to put the safety lock back on, this is regarding ALL gun safety locks including the Biometric new ones such as Identilock which requires a user to touch a fingerprint reader before having access to the trigger:

I understand and share your concern. That having been said, you just can't protect everyone from everything. All guns already have safety levers. Trigger locks would be a double safe option however, guns used for personal protection are typically loaded and ready to fire. Trying to take off a safety lock and/or loading and unloaded weapon in a life threatening situation is not a viable solution. There are gun safes with PIN numbers for fast access, to me, that is a better solution because one can keep a loaded gun in a locked safe but get quick access. However, if one doesn't USE any of these safety devices they won't work.
