It's grossly disgusting for a state legislature to pass a law based solely on bigotry.
No institution that receives public funds, which obviously are provided by the taxpayers, should be allowed to discriminate. I'm sure that LGBT Kansans pay taxes.
There is a disturbing trend in society to give the "right to freedom of religion" supremacy over the rights of other citizens. Why should other citizens be sent to shop around, go someplace else, and otherwise bear any sort of burden just to accommodate beliefs that they don't share?
We discriminate against behaviors every day of the week. It's called majority rule and the penal system.
If you allow one group of behaviors the majority object to, to gain special immunity from regulation (discrimination), then you have to allow other repugnant behaviors the same immunity. That's how the 14th Amendment works. You can't pick favorite repugnant behaviors and exclude others you subjectively don't like. The 14th Amendment wears blinders.
So when it comes to behaviors, either we abolish the 14th Amendment, or abolish the penal system, or get used to people discriminating against adults who as a unit-lifestyle embrace, for example, doing lewd sex acts 'on parade, in pride' where they invite kids to watch. If that's where we've set the bar on minority behavioral groups getting immunity from majority regulation (discrimination) then as you can clearly see, we have no recourse to deny other bizarre groups claiming they want immunity too. What could be worse than sexual abuse of children?
PEOPLE WILL DISCRIMINATE AGAINST THAT. And that's because they're required to by law.
Say to yourselves over and over
'LGBT are behaviors. LGBT are behaviors. LGBT are behaviors...." Now you understand why people are allowed to discriminate against them.
