Sure, dope is legal in many many states, but it is still a federal crime.
Yes, for the moment. The last time we went to Vegas we went to the old part and they had weed shops, with police acting as security. That was...weird to see.
. . . and using the religion argument?

Even during prohibition the Feds didn't bother Catholics over that.
Note the law you cited ONLY was a funding law. It recognized the state had the right to control, and was tying monies to it, not enforcement. Further, if you read it, it did not contravene the statute I cited. Minors can't purchase alcohol with states that get that money. It didn't say minors couldn't drink with their parent's consent.
However, I will admit, this is an interesting discussion. I never would have thought you would be an advocate of states rights.
I am advocate for the absolute right of adults to be
LEFT ALONE. As an example, I am sympathetic to Marty being left alone if he doesn't like redheads. But I am sympathetic that the state has no right to mandate hair color.
As another example, all the cake cases (evidently against one baker). Personally I feel the baker had a right to be LEFT ALONE. The purchasers had a right to protest outside and not purchase his cakes. There are many available substitutes and its not a medical/food/shelter situation.
Who knew you are now in favor of the populations of various states being able to vote to restrict abortion. I have to admit, I am surprised.
Roe was actually bad law but it was perfect for creating a compromise that everyone but extremists were ok with. But I always pointed out that the right was tied to medical viability. EVen without Dobbs, with medical advancement it would have eventually been moot.
I am however, in favor of a Constitutional right to privacy and personal autonomy. It should be enshrined as a new amendment. AS I have stated, any right that can be voted on, is not a right, its an issue.
