The Justice Department on Wednesday announced the creation of a strike force that will assess evidence released by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard related to the Russia election interference hoax.​

Gabbard earlier Wednesday declassified and released a House Intelligence Committee report that alleges that the Obama-era intelligence assessment on Russian election meddling used the discredited Steele Dossier to underpin its conclusion that Russian President Vladimir Putin aspired to help Donald Trump win the 2016 election.​

“The Department of Justice is proud to work with my friend Director Gabbard and we are grateful for her partnership in delivering accountability for the American people," Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement. "We will investigate these troubling disclosures fully and leave no stone unturned to deliver justice.”​

The development comes after Gabbard announced she shared the newly released documents with the Justice Department and FBI for possible criminal implications.​

The Justice Department has used strike forces in the past to help coordinate multi-agency investigations into health care fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud and money laundering offenses. ​

Strike Force? Let me guess. A bunch of serious looking people, very concerned, regular talk show appearances talking about how serious this is, how complex, and how much progress is being made that they can't talk about, and right after the mid-terms they will conclude that there is nothing indictable. Would love to be wrong.

Indeed, the Durham report did note, that there was no specific law that forbade an administration using the IC from manipulating intelligence to pursue a political goal.

If there had been? Then W. could have been indicted for lying the nation into the Iraq war. I forget now where I had heard this discussion on this topic, but this is indeed true.

With that said however, Obama, and indeed W. could still be now impeached, just as they did to Trump, as it is now established precedent to impeach past presidents for high crimes a misdemeanors.
