I don't think he purged. And he most certainly was not purging generals who woud not pledge loyalty to him. You MAGATS always have some false equivalence to excuse what Trump is doing.

In 2008 the US active duty officer corps numbered 211,343. I don't imagine it's changed much.

Your horror story has 197 over 5 years. What's that, 0.02% of active duty officers per annum? That's a hellish purge, all right.
