While We Slept, Donald Trump Launched a War ... on Our Constitution and the Rule of Law

“Americans awoke this morning in a new country. While we slept, Donald Trump launched a full-scale war to overthrow the regime in Iran and to disarm that nation. But it is our nation, our Constitution he has overthrown.
[…]
This morning, America is no longer a democratic republic governed by the rule of law. It is a tyranny governed by a man. Everyone will cheer the end of the horrid reign of mullahs in Tehran. But everyone should weep at the fall of our great constitutional order.

Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution says Congress shall have the power to declare war. In common understanding it means a president cannot initiative a war. When George Bush took us into Iraq, he got an authorization to use military force (AUMF) from Congress. In fact, Congress passed three open ended authorizations, in 1991, in 2001, and in 2002.”

Trump’s supporters and defenders are likewise enemies of the Constitution and the rule of law.

The illegal, un-Constitutional attack on Iran was completely unwarranted as Iran posed no threat to the United States, Trump lied about Iran ‘soon’ having missiles capable of striking the United States – another Republican president has again lied America into yet another illegal war.
I think you need to be posting this inside Iran. The world woke up to a better world.

Because he has no support for it. He ran on doing the opposite.
Hmm, we have seen the cultists in Congress support anything he does. And they control both chambers .

Not quite the right answer, IMO.

The correct answer is that his lies he is using to justify it would not stand up under any scrutiny.

This time we need to keep the pressure on, same as in Venezuela.
Where the same regime is in power as was in power a year ago.

Where we have done nothing to protect any human rights or fair elections and have only tried to steal their resources.

This tracks, for a neocon such as yourself.

It was legal retard. the ONLY requirement is that he inform Congress within 48 hours of his using the military then he has 90 days before he needs congressional approval. LEARN the LAW dumb ass.
He doesn't care about the truth ... only his widdle feewings ....

Had it been Obama, and he did it according to the law, then I would question whether the consequence had been considered and prepared for. President Obama had competent people at key posts in his administration. Trump has nonothing sycophants and idiots in his key posts. And President Obama never threatened war with our NATO allies to take Greenland from Denmark. President Obama never increased inflation by putting idiot tariffs on our best trading partners and neighbors. It is the context of Trump's past actions and ambitions that brings justified criticism of the actions in Iran.
Well, he did a similar situation, and he didn't do it according to the law. And I bet that you supported it because Obama had "competent people at key posts". All you post is situational outrage because it was Trump who did it. We had Vietnam take place where there weren't advice and consent from the Senate before we committed boots on the ground.

Here's what happened we bombed Libya:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified to congress in March 2011 that the Obama administration did not need congressional authorization for its military intervention in Libya or for further decisions about it, despite congressional objections from members of both parties that the administration was violating the War Powers Resolution.

May 20, 2011, marked the 60th day of U.S. combat in Libya (as part of the UN resolution) but the deadline arrived without President Obama seeking specific authorization from the U.S. Congress. President Obama notified Congress that no authorization was needed, since the U.S. leadership had been transferred to NATO, and since U.S. involvement was somewhat "limited".
