It's a good idea to contact the individual organization and ask if they prefer food or cash. Many of them can buy exactly what they figure they need, and get it at bulk prices.

I volunteered at the FB of the Rockies for years and I can say they prefer $ for exactly the reason you mentioned.

Before I retired, I would for the St. Anthony Foundation, SAF a free clinic, drug and alcohol rehab, a clothing and furniture program and a Women's Shelter, I started in the shelter and eventually working Donor Services. Why would YOU even write something like that. What the **** is so ******* wrong about helping others?

That is where charity is supposed to come from---the private sector. Nothing in the constitution says anything about SNAP/WIC/Welfare. Forcing taxpayers to provide charity through taxes is unconstitutional.
