She chose not to run a third time, but both of the Democratic challengers vowed to maintain her reforms.

Here's the underlying problem. The only thing Smollett was guilty of was filing a false police report.

This is a VERY MINOR felony that almost never results in jail time.

Settling it with a plea agreement in fine was probably the right call, but because Smollett is a celebrity who hurt the feelings of white people, we spent 5 million dollars prosecuting an E Felony or maybe even a misdemeanor.
